Thread: Maha Sarakham van operator fined for passenger overload

MAHA SARAKHAM, 16 July 2017 (NNT) - The Provincial Land Transport Office of Maha Sarakham has imposed a fine on a public transport van operator for violating the safety laws.

The company owning the Roi Et - Udon Thani public transport van with license plate 10-7872 Udon Thani has been fined 10,000 baht for its failure to supervise its driver and fare collector. The vehicle has been banned from service for seven days.

The driver, seen squeezing as many as 19 passengers into his van in a video clip, has been punished with a fine of 5,000 baht and has had his public transport driving license suspended for 30 days.

The Provincial Land Transport Office of Maha Sarakham will heighten random inspections at transport terminals to ensure the safety of inter-provincial vans and buses. Passengers who spot law-breaking vehicles are advised to call 1584 any time round the clock.
