Tha Chin River overflow feared in next few days

NAKHON PATHOM, 15 July 2017 (NNT) – Nakhon Pathom province has warned local villagers near Tha Chin River over heavy rains and high tides next week.

Nakhon Pathom Provincial Governor Adisak Thepart said the Meteorological Department had forecast increasing precipitations and heavy rains in all parts of Thailand during 14-18 July 2017, which might possibly cause flash floods and landslides, while the water volume passing through Chao Phraya dam has increased to 1,000-1,500 cubic meters per second.

Such weather conditions would correspond to the rising sea level during 14-16 July 2017 which might raise the water level in Tha Chin River and nearby canals and prompt it to overflow into residences and farms.

The villagers near Tha Chin River and nearby canals are advised to closely follow the situation. District chiefs have been instructed to immediately inform the province in case of flooding.
