BANGKOK, 13 July 2017 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and the Army will open a P.O. box and telephone line to receive complaints of graft, push for the prosecution of criminal suspects and promote public participation in cleaning up the country.
Government Spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the NCPO and the Army to open up more local channels to receive complaints of corruption involving government officials.
According to the spokesperson, the premier considered the planned eradication of corruption as national agenda. Lt Gen Sansern said graft can result in hardships like human trafficking, as well as a lack of trust in government agencies. Graft can also send a negative impact on state budgets and affect the country's credibility.
All complaints will be gathered at the Prime Minister's Office for verification in bid to eliminate corruption which has been embedded into Thai society, he said.
