M-Society removes 776 beggars from streets in 5 months

BANGKOK, 26 May 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security revealed that 776 street beggars have been removed from the streets during the first five months of this year.

Speaking during a meeting on the development of a draft strategic beggar management plan, Social Development and Human Security Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said, among 776 beggars removed from the streets, 519 of them were Thais and the rest were foreign nationals.

Around 421 of Thai beggars have already returned to their families while 168 foreign beggars have been deported.

Those that sing and perform on the streets in exchange for money have been asked to register for special identification cards under the Beggar Control Act. Without the cards, they will be treated as beggars and will be taken off the streets.

Moreover, they are required to notify local authorities in advance each time they perform. Since the introduction of the special ID cards, more than 1,500 people, mostly from Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Chiang Mai, have registered.

I don't mind local beggars but the Farang trash should be rounded up and executed.

Deportation is way to good for them.

Whilst the pigs are at it round up the Backpackers who sell those shitty postcards on the Capitals streets and pop a cap in their arse as well.

Farang are scum, Thais are good eh.

776 street-beggars, in a city of 10 million plus - is a great endorsement for Thailand.

^On my next visit to Kathmandu, I'll pay a visit to a Buddhist Temple and ask that a special blessing of "human love", be sent your truly pathetic way. Ok? Sigh!

3 minutes 30 seconds into the video you can see what is going on in Thailand. The Friday speech is shown with the PM and there are English Subtiles. Is it just me or does this clearing the streets of the homeless and beggars sound a bit Orwellian?

Even though I think getting rid of beggars on the street is a good thing, I have to consider the real reason things are being cleaned up. Is it that they are an embarrassment to the squeaky clean reputation of the LOS, or are they cutting into the economy without paying the normal "tax?"

Deporting foreign scum who beg has to be a joy for any police officer. It shows Thailand means business when it comes to extracting those who have little money in their pockets. More power to them.
