Phang Nga warns tourists against swimming in sea

BANGKOK, 23 May 2017 (NNT) - Hotels in tourist areas in Phan Nga province warn guests not to swim in the sea during this period due to strong waves. Rescue boats are on stand-by in case of an accident.

More than 200 small fishing boats in the province are unable to operate, following high winds and strong waves.

In Uttaradit, Governor Phiphat Ekphaphan and representatives of relevant units on Tuesday traveled to Phichai district to handed out supplies to the local people affected by the flooding on 17 May 2017.

The Meteorological Department has forecast a 60-70% increase in chances of rain from 24-29 May 2017. Heavy rains are expected in the lower part of the Northern region, the upper part of the central region, the Northwast, the East and the South.

Deputy Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department Thongpliew Kongchan has instructed irrigation offices in flood-prone areas to prepare flood-prevention equipment and closely monitor the situation.

Splendid storm rolled in over us 30 minutes ago. Temperature plummeted, grass and plants all perked up. Lovely.
