Thailand will face another round of rains and heavy rains in some parts of the country during May 24-25 as a result from low pressure covering Vietnam and the Gulf, according to the Department of Public Disasters Prevention and Mitigation.
The department chief Mr Chatchai Promlert said that heavy rains during May 16-22 cause widespread flooding in 14 provinces affecting over 20,000 households in 48 districts and killing five villagers.
Although flood has eased in 11 provinces, 786 villages in 20 districts of Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet and Loei provinces remain inundated.
In Sukhothai, 405 villages in Si Samrong, Muang, Khirimat, Sawankhaloke, Thung Saliam, Ban Dan Larn Hoi and Kong Krailat districts are still flooded with over 17,000 households affected. Over 17,000 rai of farmland were damaged.
In Loei province, over 2,200 households were affected by flooding in 11 districts covering 332 villages.
In Kamphaeng Phet province, only 20 households were affected and about 3,000 rai of farmland were damaged.
