BANGKOK, 24 February 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MHDSH) is to work with police and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) in bid to regulate the homeless of Bangkok.

Social Development and Human Security Minister Adul Sangsingkeo invited delegates from the BMA, the Immigration Bureau, the Metropolitan Police, the Provincial Police Region 1 and the Department of Mental Health to a meeting to discuss plans to regulate the homeless persons in Bangkok.

The MSDHS minister delivered directives for all agencies to commence the integrated regulation plan from 1 March 2017 for a 30-days period with progress reports to be submitted to the government.

He ordered all agencies to revise the target number of homeless persons, beggars, and evaluate social factors, and appointed the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare Yuparet Wongboonmee as the CEO of this operation.

He added unity and cooperation between the agencies were needed to solve the homeless issue and provide protection and access to their basic welfare.

The general public are invited to take part in this campaign by calling Hotline 1300 around the clock after they have found any homeless person in the capital city.
