BANGKOK, 3 November 2016 (NNT) - The Thai government has allowed for resumption of celebratory events starting mid-November, in a bit to attract more tourists during the festive seasons.

Singaporean news outlet Channel News Asia reported that Thailand’s government has allowed for celebratory events starting November 14th, after having been suspended for 30 days from October 13th, out of respect for the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. However, the government has called for celebrations to carry on within respectful parameters that are not in stark contrast with the country’s mood of grief.

The resumption celebratory activities extend to major upcoming festivals such as Loy Krathong, News Year’s, Chinese New Year’s as well as local festivals such as the Ghost Festival, economic promotion fairs, traditional celebrations, hotel banquets as well as sports competitions.
