28 airports placed under top security alert

Security at 28 airports throughout the country has been tightened up to Level 3 which is the highest level, said Mr Darun Saengchai, deputy permanent secretary of transport and acting director-general of Department of Airports, on Thursday.

Under the new security measure, officials will strictly check all baggage through X-ray scanning to look for hidden weapons or dangerous materials while hand-held bags carried on board by passengers as well as the passengers themselves will be subjected to tighter checks.

Police and troops will patrol passenger terminals and airports around the clock and all vehicles entering airports will be searched.

Mr Darun said contingency plan has already been mapped to cope with emergency situations.

Meanwhile, the Department of Airports has called on passengers and members of the public to immediately inform officials when they spotted something suspicious or baggage which are left unattended.

I've no doubt this increase in security will be carried out with alacrity and conviction.

For about an hour and then they'll all go back to sleep as per normal.

I hope they catch the bad men who killed him. Read it on here first, on another thread.

Arrived from SIN this arvo. No noticeable increase in anything except loud, lascivious, old Chinese men, but certainly not in security.

Oh you lucky man. Trust me. I arrived from Sing yesterday at about 6pm. It took close to 2 1/2 hours to get to central Bk. Bumper to bumper the whole way.

They were scanning every bag when I arrived last week.

When I say "scanning", I mean they were chucking every bag through the X-Ray machine while the dumb fucks sat there chatting away and pissing about on their mobiles.

Took us 15 minutes on Saturday arriving from LHR time 06:00 am.
Would have been 3 minutes but woman in front of us was refused entry.
