BUENG KAN, 23 August 2016, (NNT) - The water level of Mekong River has risen steadily in Bueng Kan, adversely affecting farmers in the northeastern province.
The water level at Saen Charoen village in provincial seat area of Bueng Kan province was measured at about two meters in the morning of August 23.
The rising water level is likely to have been caused by the massive water from Loei and Nong Khai provinces and heavy rains which had flooded rubber and oil palm plantations in Nong Waeng village in Wisit community.
The excessive water from Mekong River has also flooded the farmland in Na Non village in provincial seat area, keeping the farmers' vegetables submerged.
