BANGKOK, 21 July 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police has resolved to expedite reform of police investigations at 514 metro police stations within one year to improve the efficiency of police work.
Deputy Police Chief Police General Pongsapat Pongcharoen said 10 police reforms, which are now underway, are to be achieved in one, five, ten and twenty years.
He said reform of police investigations for 514 metro police stations is the most urgent matter and will be completed in one year. The stations are required to set up a one stop service desk to allow crime reporting and assistance seeking to be conducted together for public convenience.
The reform also calls for police to treat all citizens indiscriminately, respond to people in a timely manner and to be thorough in their investigations. The Royal Thai Police will soon undergo other reforms for its remaining 982 police stations.
In the second phase of its reform legal, organizational as well as ethical training courses will be carried for police officers to help them become more effective in their duties.
