    Not novel at all.
As usual, plagiarism and copying of other's ideas, and claiming as Thai.

I suppose the wheel was a Thai invention too.

But to put it to use is really something...Well done...I'd trip over that, for sure...

And having said THAT, enforcement of the rules and consistent punishment for rule-breakers would help too.

Nope. Copied....maybe from India where they do it, or maybe from Europe, where they also do it.

Can't paste a pic....google "optical illusion painted on road" Plenty of examples.

Thats all good until Somchai comes flying down there at 80 mph, sees that 3d art at the last second, then takes evasive action and drives up those steps into the school

It is a silly gimmick that will do nothing to reduce the speed of cars.

Only when viewed from a certain angle will it give the desired impression of floating, and even then it will just cause confusion in the chickenhead brain as it slowly tries to process the conflicting inputs that are overloading his neuronal and optical circuitry. He will just drive straight on as if he has been hypnotised by the illusion.

Big speedbumps combined with chicanes are the only way to slow down traffic and keep somchai awake.

On first glance, I thought it a clever idea. Never mind, Somchai, even Dick (with his chicken brain) and shiny new car, would stop alright... maybe try to reverse out of that soi...lol

As someone said, the illusion would freak people out and may cause more accidents than it prevents.

Novel concept but it will wear out if not maintained and become a blur.

Simpler to add another red barrier or a concrete chicane.

If only they'd draw a line on the window, then erase it every time a child gets in and out of the school van they might stop cooking them to death as fokwit somchai locks up the van and foks off back to bed after doing the school van run.

I take your point and agree completely.
My comment is the "novel" aspect in the headline that we see so often with Thai institutions claiming to have invented something that they've copied.
Same goes for plagiarism in university dissertations etc.

I don't think you understand what the term novel means.

In fact, it's pretty clear that you don't.

If you bother reading the article, you'll see that it says very clearly that this type of thing is not new and that it is used in other countries already. The 'novel aspect' seems to be an addition made by the OP

Maybe it's just "novel" in Thailand? Doing anything to stop needless death and destruction in Thailand is "novel".

^ But it's not novel, unlike following links or reading other posts, which is clearly a completely fucking revolutionary concept.
