Hua Hin City scrambles to expand areas of tap water service

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 28 May 2016 (NNT) – Hua Hin City Municipality and the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) plan to expand areas of tap water service to contain the shortage of water for consumption and accommodate the city’s economic growth.

Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Vuttikul said Hua Hin City Municipality is currently responsible for the production of tap water for Hua Hin and Nong Kae county. However, the supplying source is not sufficient to ensure continuous supply of water to some remote areas in the highlands, especially during dry season when water shortages generally occur.

He said the municipality has agreed with the PWA to expand areas of tap water service in Hua Hin municipality within two months while the project is currently pending approval of a fund for the installing of more water pipes in the area.

The project is expected to contain water shortages among the general public as well as provide more options of water uses by residents of central Hua Hin City whose demands of water are increasing due to its economic growth.

I don't get it. The reservoir is incapable of supplying sufficient water to current on-tap consumers, so the solution is to expand the number of houses that have tap water.
Sounds like that will worsen the situation for the hills.
