Thai female dentist conquers Mount Everest

Ms Napassaporn Chumnarnsit now becomes the first Thai woman to conquer Mount Everest's summit today.

According to Thai Everest 2016 Facebook, Ms Napasdaporn or well-known as Doctor-Oeem, a dentist, has successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, 8,885 metres above mean sea level, at 09:45 pm Nepal time or at 11.00 am Bangkok time today.

But her mission has not yet accomplished as the task of climbing down the world’s highest and dangerous mountain is much more difficult.

Thai Everest 2016 Facebook said at the last route before reaching the Everest’s summit, climbers have to pass South Summit and Hillary Step which are steepest and narrowest.

Doctor-Oeem started out from Camp 4 in the night when the weather is fine, wind not strong and the sky is bright which contribute to the successful conquer.

“She is the first Thai woman to conquer the world’s highest peak. She is Thailand’s pride,” the Facebook page reported.

It further said the mission is not yet accomplished as climbing down the Everest safely is on several occassions harder than climbing up. We will follow her mission closely.

Earlier a Thai climber Vithitnan Rojanapanich has also submitted the Everest peak on May 22, 2008.

Must be some money in dentistry in Thailand, costs a fortune to climb the yellow brick road to Everest.

    Good for her!

What ever happened to editors when newspapers went online? That is some time difference.

More people have been up Everest than up Joan Collins. Surprised they don't have motorway signage up there.

But I believe it's correct, AO...I did a double-take at first when I was checking out Nepal's time, but then Canada has Newfoundland Standard Time with a half-hour difference from Atlantic Standard Time...Still, 15 minutes is a strange one...

Be a different story [and praise] for many if the achievement was once again claim by a white guy....and certainly a English-speaking white guy.

Being Thai I wonder if she's still stuck at the top because her guide decided to triple the price before showing her the way back down.

Sadly, they cannot see their own media muppet bigotry.

The have the AM's and PM's mixed up. BKK is one hour and fifteen minutes ahead of KTM. They should both be AM's I believe.

    Sir Hillary, yes?
    The first. Are you sure?

Quite possible that numerous locals, that were certainly more accustomed to altitude and conditions, were up there long before any Westerner, yet were never praised or acclaimed for such feats.

Didn't feel the need for the "official" attention, therefore wasn't "news".

The general, and particular, twisting of info, news, events, and history is usually the manner in which most have grown to be comfortable with.

Real Eurocentric "first" are quite the rare item as such is reserved for history and human development. Yet, the all inclusive illusions continue for you and most others of your ilk -

    I doubt it.

Locals would have feared the gods that their legends told them reside up there.

Most of the worlds explorers and first visitors to extreme environments have been european white men. Its our inquisitiveness and desire to push boundaries you see.

Sitting in your hammocks all day will get you nowhere.

Jeff you have been on a rampage of attempting to negate almost anything posted on any thread.
The Sherpas had no desire to climb their "mother mountain". Why is the world would they want to climb it? They still only do it for the money.

There is a very good chance that Tenzing Norgay who led Hillary up the mountain reached the top first but it does not matter at all. Credit was always given to the two.

Which is, of course, what everybody except white Europeans is 'doing' all day.
