The closest parallel which I've seen is people being racially abused and members of the public rarely if ever intervene in those cases. Like most people, I've seen plenty of fights and nobody (myself included) stepped in so I think it's just fantasy to think that the oh-so-moral-whitey possesses virtues which Thais lack; it's obviously popular on forums like this for people to claim that if they were there, they'd have the fekin lot of 'em but, really, it's bullshit.

They won't - they are by all accounts kids of the local big wigs. Therefore they will have been out in about 2 minutes, whilst the cops concoct some story about it. Burmese migrants watch out. Would not be surprised if the farang who tried to help them will not be fitted up with this.

BEcause this is what mainstream media does all the time. They fudge it, manipulate, lie and deceive. Now, if someone only had watched the mail version of the video, and you went and told that person "the old lady hit the lad first" they would not believe you and tell you you are lying, and all sorts of nonsense. it is how they operate and why people who rely on mainstream media are so far removed from what is really happening in the world.

Even the microscopically small risk that people might view the incident with any degree of questioning can't be permitted. Have readers think 'I wonder what that was all about'? You must be fucking kidding. The only possible response is pure, unadulterated outrage.

Big wigs? Where do you get that from? Anyway, the two men were arrested and confessed 10 days ago so I don't think any Burmese need fear.

Mates, I'm not too proud to admit, I've been smashed by my mum/dad beaten like a dog - I never raised a hand against them.. I took it like a kid (man)...

It's built into our psyche to not hit a woman (parents) elders under any circumstance...

Yes NZdick I agree never raise a hand to a woman but that is what we learned through the discipline we received as children.

What people are not aware of these scum receive no discipline when they are growing up especially the males and if from a well to do family.

I have seen things time and time again whereupon I would have been leathered if I pulled the same stunts I have seen Thai males do and get away with it.

What we mostly have viewed today is deplorable but is it really deplorable in their eyes.

The point I am trying to make is do not allow yourself under any circumstance to enter into what could turn out as it did today. WALK AWAY.

We play by their rules here and they normally win.

One of the gang is the son of the local governer of Hau Hin!

    Same, same - Koh Tao.

Only difference with this case is the governer didn't swipe the cctv evidence quick enough and the victims luckily didn't die.

    Not been to Thailand then?

Hiso thug boy in the middle starts it. his buddies then have to prove their worth and get involved with the cheap shots. They take the fall, if any, and hiso thug boy gets away with it. Come back and claim I am making it up when they arrest and imprison the ring leader who started it all....

I just had a quick look and the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan has a different name to either of the two arrested and none of the Thai-language reports which I have just skimmed through mention this (alleged) connection. Have you seen something on Facebook (or similar)? If so, post a link. I'd like to read it.

I've lived here for 15 years. Do you have any justification for this stuff about them being in with the police or should I file this along with Alex Jones, the Rothschilds and the Lizard Men?

Wanted person, suspect, accused, defendant: I suppose it depends on where in the legal process of prosecution they are at any moment in time.

Frankly, there is nothing new here to alter the perception we more intelligent observers of Thai society have already gained over the years: many Thai men are essentially crude, brutal, stupid, uncultured and as cruelly violent as any animal provoked by base instinct.

They are like dogs, really, and should be avoided as best as one can and certainly one should steer well clear of them if they are running in packs and inebriated.

Their inability to empathise with their victims at any stage of an attack is omnipresent and as such it is reasonable to conclude that as a species they are somewhat divorced from the rest of humanity.

Any remorse expressed by these creatures is utterly meaningless since they are incapable of real feelings.

Their society is deeply flawed on so many levels and this disgracefully vicious and unprovoked savage attack upon defenceless victims is simply more evidence of that fact.

Westerners should avoid the country. Period.

Thais are not taught to respect non-Thais... *especially round eyed Farang...

I'm not saying you couldn't google me a story where a Thai bogan smashed an elderly Thai lady... my point is it would happen much less often..

This is the problem with over zealous Nationalism in Thailand (or any country).. a healthy dose of pride in your country is good, but too much, tends towards arrogance and open hostility towards other races...
