^Thai driving is fucking shit. Period. Never trust anyone who believes in reincarnation to drive / operate machinery.

He is pointing out the Thai's drive like shit. In fact the 2nd most road fatalities per year in the world. Dont try and say the Thai's drive well.
Aging one, I appreciate your thread count, but it doesn't give you the right to tell me what to say or imply that your opinion on driving is superior to mine.

Thai driving is, what Thai driving is. It's how the Thai's drive.

A smart driver, when driving in different countries adapts to local conditions.
If you drive in Thailand like you do in the West, issues will arise.

Same as if you are from the USA and drive, with that style in say a country like Germany. You will get hammered.

I used to drive professionally, well, 'ride' actually. I was a motorcycle courier.
Worked in London, Australia, rode all through a lot of Europe.
    Cycled many places also.

Drove/rode in the States, Ireland, the list continues.

One common theme carried through. Learn how the locals drive, adapt your style to suit.

Not for a moment am I saying that Thai drivers are good, bad or indifferent ... I don't judge them.

I just try and learn how to drive here and adapt.

Your comment about Thai's having the second worst fatality index in the World is, well ... questionable.

How about posting the official stats to back the claim.

Having enjoyed motoring in both Cambodia and Russia/Ukraine I might suggest that their death rate per 1,000 drivers might shade Thailand.

BTW, I'm not from England, but I'll tip my hat to them, well, the Londoners anyway.

What they excelled in was adaptive driving.

That's my personal experience, others may vary from this.

This is a very strange post.

He (assuming it's a 'he') starts off by getting stuck into AO and feels it necessary to make a comment about his post count - some inferiority complex, I suspect (see later references to his extensive driving/riding experience).

Then he goes to make a statement about "A smart driver, when driving in different countries adapts to local conditions." Adapting to "local conditions" is absolutely necessary in Thailand but still does not account for the cabbage truck drivers that I meet every morning on the ring road of a Thai regional city who have to get to the market by 8 am and force almost everyone else going in the opposite direction into the motorcycle lane - oh sorry, I expect he means that moving over into the motorcycle lane is adapting to "local conditions".

Go to the WHO website if you want the statistics that AO referred to.

Yes, I'd "vary from this.[/QUOTE]" I think London drivers are shit.

I've got a Honda wave and a 400cc Honda steed, not a huge bike by any stretch of the imagination , gonna put the steed up for sale and stick to the wave for short beer runs to the minimart, I figure it's just a matter of time before Lao somchai fucks up my shit and I become a mere paint marking on the highway, I enjoyed riding that bike but it's to easy to die on the daft streets of Vientiane, to many hiso fuckers in range rovers etc , if I'm going to check out early I prefer that decision best left to my liver.

Three killed, three injured in Udon van crash

UDON THANI — Two Buddhist devotees on a pilgrimage and their driver were killed and three others seriously injured when their chartered van crashed into a median strip in Non Sa-at district on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred between kilometre markers 399 and 400 on Mittraphap Road (Khon Kaen-Udon Thani) when a van with six people, including the driver, crashed into the central median strip and ploughed into a traffic sign post and another two lampposts before over-turning.

And that's where the term of "wrapped it around a power pole" comes from.

Jesus H Christ how fast would this Hilux have had to be going to fold it in half?. Those things are built like a tank!. No match for a locals driving skills though...
