An opium plantation in Chiang Dao was raided by the army, leaving one man dead and one injured after the opium farmers opened fire on authorities.

Border soldiers raided the opium plantation following a tip-off to the Royal Project of Opium Planting Prevention.

After the opium farmers opened fire at the army, a gun fight ensued, leaving one farmer (name unknown) dead, and Pol Lt Precha Patikhum injured with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

The farm will be destroyed and the farmers prosecuted.

Pol Lt Precha is receiving treatment at the Nakhonping Hospital.
