Suvarnabhumi airport was ranked 36th in a global survey of the world's top airports released on Thursday.

The main airport serving Bangkok came 36th out of 550 airports surveyed by the Skytrax World Airport Awards, which saw Singapore's Changi airport as the world's best terminal.

The rating of Suvarnabhumi this year jumped from 47th position in the annual survey last year. In Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur International Airport was rated better than Suvarnabhumi at 24th.....

Manila is so bad it does not even make the list, but it's the only airport I've ever been in where the free wifi actually works well.

Suvarnabhumi is not bad and is paradise compared to LAX. Even more sadly I can get into Thailand every time quicker than I can get into my own country and without the hassle of talking to a goon from the TSA , where they've done away with the "nothing to declare" exits.

Heathrow Terminal 5 has a branch of Cafe Rouge

Hanoi jumped from 218th to 82nd, wow.

I can't believe Incheon is 2# the place is soulless and I have to stop over there every year.

Sukumbum has the " Magic Food Court " on the ground floor.

That's really good.

I must say it kinda baffles me when people rabbit on about how good an airport is.... I travel through so many and to me they are all the fucking same.....

I arrive, I check in, I go through immigration (I can honestly say I cannot remember being annoyed at how long I have waited anywhere ever, maybe SFO last time I was there was a bit, but not outstanding... that was arrival) I walk to the gate, I give not a single fuck about the shopping, if I do some I do, if not I don't. I get to the gate, read and get on the plane and leave.

As for complaints about Swampy, I arrive, I pass through it like any other. On return the big plus is taxis, cheap as chips compared to well.... anywhere.

Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe I just don't get uptight about such inane shit as standing in a queue for 10 minutes or so.

Some Airports are absolute shite and some are outstanding like Changi.

Been to Changi many many times..... It's just an airport, it's not a wife FFS.....

I certainly would never compare it to a Wife.

I'm with Bob, on this one... next we'll be comparing 7/11's (or man-boobies).

Way I see it is that airports are a necessary evil and suck donkey balls but if you're going to be stuck in one - especially with younger kids - then in my experience Changi is one of the 'better' ones to be stuck in.

If one finds himself delayed there is no other better place to be than Changi.

I would put Melbourne down as one of the least user friendly airports in the world.
I'm from Geelong and find it easier and cheaper in BKK or other airports to get through the place.

Never had a good experience at Melbourne airport, once they tried to charge me 200 dollars for parking 20 minutes, there computer was not working properly.
Tried to get a cab to Geelong, none of the Iranian cab drives knew where Geelong was.

Last trip over sealed the deal, long flight, stop overs etc 6 flights landing same time.
Line for immigration, customs is all the way back to the luggage pick up belt.

Say to the wife and kids, lets have a sleep on the floor until the line dies down, next 2 fat APS cops, you can't sleep here.

Just to finish the day, I'm here for cataracts, can't see to fill the immigration cards in, customs or immigration will help. NO, not there job.

It's the big modern places with zero character
