NAKHON PATHOM, 23 February 2016 (NNT) - Director-General of the Department of Industrial Works Phasu Loharnchun has traveled to Nakhon Pathom to inspect a tire plant which is ready to increase their capacity in an effort to help tackle the problem of rubber price drop.

The plant is operated by the Otani Group in Nakhon Chaisi district. The plant manufactures tires for trucks and passenger cars and it is now ASEAN’s biggest manufacture of tires for agricultural vehicles. The company’s two subsidies are the Otani Tire Co., Ltd. and Otani Radial Co., Ltd. which manufacture tire exports for 16 leading automotive assembly factories in Thailand and other countries.

The company used 22,000 tons of Para rubber to manufacture motor wheels in 2015. This year, it plans to use 36,000 tons and sets the goal to use more than 76,000 tons/year in the next five years.

The director-general said the department had set up a team to give advice to 80 industrial plants which use Para rubber as a raw material in their production. 16 of the plants have started operating. 870,000 tons of rubber are expected to be used by all 80 plants this year.
