Question Indonesia in New Year, visa for Thai teerak

Just got home to a coolish N Thailand, her indoors fancies some winter sun I find 20 degree nights pleasant yet local lasses have the coats and gloves on as Loy Krathong looms

Heard somewhere Indonesia plans visa free holidays sometime soon.
Fancy a visit again in new year, I know Medan well yet not used the new airport, what's est way into downtown, or are there any good hotels very close?
Any info on Makkasssar aka Ujung Pangjang and PELNI Office there?

Like to ring Thai wife will she need a visa in advance?

or on arrival thinking of 2 weeks in Nias or Sulawesi, any tips welcome.

Is there anywhere else warmer and visa free shes seen Khmers,Oman Loas Oz, Malaya,Ive no desire Maldives Lanka again ,all I read of Philippines is squalor same .

Visa free for ASEAN. Manado has corals, beaches, food, drink and comfortable lifestyle.

Tana Toraja in Central Sulawesi worth a visit, cooler climate, some interesting walks and/or rafting trips.

Makkassar has little going for it other than an interesting fort, indoor theme park and an airport.

'pends what you want? Beaches? Solitude? Diving? Upmarket? Downmarket?

I have a soft spot for Toba having lived there for a year. Peaceful, sunshine, small enough to explore on foot. etc. If you are into golf there is a pretty local course near the Japanese run Hydro dam..

If you want beaches and sand then..

As said Asean visa free, most western nationalities are now visa on arrival.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

Nah, Haven't been there for some time. Didn't know there was a hotel in Porsea!

Yes Carolina quiet but there is or used to be a small pizza restaurant just down the street.

Bagus Bay is good for a Homestay, run by expat? Mates used to go there to "smoke"

Never been but when I lived in Palembang I never got to Belitung Island and they have resorts, if you are up for something different.
