Thai Inter Provincial Passenger Bus Overturns Killing 3, Driver Flees Scene

NAKHON RATCHASIMA – A bus travelling from Nakhon Ratchasima–Udon Thani ran off the highway and overturned down an incline in Kong district on Thursday, killing three passengers and injuring 20 more.

The accident happened at about 1pm, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police said rescue teams rushed to the scene finding one male and two female passengers were found dead inside the bus and the other 20 passengers were taken to nearby hospitals.

The Rescue was extremely difficult because the coach had come to rest upside down in a ditch full of water, and it was raining at the time.

Pol Lt Col Ekarat Montri, a case officer at Kong police station, said it was thought the bus had been travelling at high speed in the rain and the driver lost control on a curve. “And yes the driver fled the scene”.

Don't think so it is simply cheaper than diesel. Most older buses in BKK will have the same set up, hence the absence of black smoke.

Y can't bus conductors /attendants ensure passengers wear seatbelts ?

Not much point in me wearing mine when there's 30 odd loose bodies flying around in a rolling bus.

    In the noble, time-honoured tradition.

Not in the test, but they do train hard in the "leg it from the bus" event.
