CHIANG MAI - Totaling 17,767 years in age, 259 senior and elderly people (youngest 50 years old, oldest 92) received certifications from Dr. Diskorn Watcharothai, secretary of the Royal Palace, after completing a one year degree called ‘Life Degree’.

The 259 graduates, some of which had previously only graduated prathom 4 of school, while others already held masters degrees, attended this course at the School for the Elderly, sponsored by the Doi Saket district. Each Wednesday between 8am and 3 pm, students came to learn a variety of topics from computer and technology to theology and health science.

The course aimed at exchanging knowledge between participants as well as to enhance the quality of life of its students.

One attendee, Janfong Suksamran, 92, said that she had not missed one single class the whole year and that she was one of the 15 graduates who received honours.

Once a week for a year. When I'm 92, I will be looking for a similar course to keep my mind active.
