The Royal Thai Armed Forces yesterday dispatched 51 soldiers on a C130 aircraft to help flood victims in Myanmar.

The plane also carried medical supplies and field-water systems.

RTARF chief General Worapong Sanganetra said the government had assigned the Defence Ministry to provide manpower, medicines and medial supplies to flood victims.

He said this was done to express the good bilateral friendship between the countries and allow the Thai military to show its preparedness and potential to handle disasters, he said.

The soldiers must perform their duties with determination, devotion and good teamwork to achieve the goal, he said.

They will stay in Myanmar until September 4, although the deadline can be extended, he added.
