Thai Smile Aircraft Nudges Chiang Mai Jetbridge

A Thai Smile Airways plane was slightly damaged when one of its wings hit the Gate 5 gangway at Chiang Mai international airport this morning.

But all the 48 passengers on board Flight WE150 from Don Mueang airport were not hurt.

They all disembarked from the plane safely to the airport.

According to Chiang Mai airport official, the plane skidded as it was taxing on the taxiway to connect with the airport’s Gate 5 terminal.

The left wing of the plane hit the gangway but caused no injury to passengers inside.

The incident happened at about 9.30 am.

An investigation team will be set up to find the exact cause of the incident.

Thai Smile Airways is a subsidiary of Thai Airways International.

Two questions need to be asked.

    1) Did the brakes fail?

    2) Did the pilot run off?

How in the hell do you get the A/C to skid when you are coming into the gate?

Certainly not using the wrong foot on the pedal. LOL
Brakes on any aircraft are on the top of the rudder pedals, commonly known as toe brakes, cause you use your toes to actuate the bakes. The throttles are on the center pedestal where both the Pilot and co-pilot can access them.
Some one needs some basic training again.

Or just may be the anti-lock brake system did not work!! Maintenance or lack of, need IATA to check their procedures and log book for this Air Craft.

    Process of elimination.

Lowlight conditions, bad weather, sudden gust of tailwind, tectonic plate shift, etc.

    Anything but human error.

Time to call in the monks who will extradite the demons that are making plane unlucky.
