Using A Mobile Phone At Traffic Lights Is Illegal

Supreme Court Judge Reveals On His Facebook Page

The Council of State has ruled that it is illegal for a driver to talk on a mobile phone while stopped at a red light, a former Supreme Court judge revealed on his Facebook page on Sunday.

Chuchart Srisaeng, the former Supreme Court judge, said the Council of State's 4th standing committee made this ruling after being asked by the Royal Thai Police Office (RTPO) whether it is a violation of Section 43 of the Land Traffic Act for a driver to talk on a mobile phone while stopped at a red light.

Section 43 prohibits a driver from talking on a mobile phone while driving, except with the use of a device that means the driver does not have to hold the phone while behind the wheel.

On receiving the police question, the 4th standing committee of the Council of State invited representatives of agencies concerned to discuss the matter.

The committee concluded that although a vehicle is stopped at a red light, the driver is regarded as still being in control of it and must be ready to move off when the light turns green. Talking on a phone without using a talking aid device while at a red light therefore means the driver is regarded as violating the traffic law.

The other option was to print it on the labels of beer bottles.

if you mount your android phone on your dash you can use a combination of settings --> calls --> answering/ending calls and set the home key button to answer or a voice command

and then an app called auto speaker which you can set to auto start speakerphone

so to answer a call while you are driving you do not even have to look at the phone
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Amazing, no phones but no one says anything about video players and TV's that fit in or on top of the dash board.

Wasn't it a British study that concluded there is no difference in safety between to so called hands free systems and simply holding the phone; that it's the loss of concentration that is the problem, not the loss of a hand on the wheel?

That is acknowledged by all except for the majority who don't believe their driving is affected - which is probably correct as they don't concentrate fully when driving anyway

even talking to someone else in the car ( let alone those who turn their heads to look at the person )

In Australia the filth are hard core on it. Get caught there and it's a few hundred buk fine and loss of points.

Turds even have the Filth on unmarked motor bikes busting punters.

I've seen punters in Thailand riding their motorbikes and texting

    That's really nuts Huh.

    Absolutely fecking A.

Part of the nightmare of driving in BKK traffic are the delays caused by either the guy in front falling asleep or the guy/girl in front diddling with their phone such that when the light does eventual change in our favor there is a huge delay while they all wake up of finishing texting or tweeting or posting their last cup of coffee on Farsebook.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all

Mobile phones are a danger to society. They should be banned completely, thereby forcing people to communicate directly with one another. This rather odd form of communication worked perfectly well for thousands of years.
On a mobile you can lie about where you are and who you are with. Face to face makes that more difficult.
I blame wimmin for multi tasking.

You forgot to add that having mobile phones helps big brother know where you are.

Maybe the answer is to have special lanes for non-mobile phone users... just go through an electronic gate that pings the secret firmware that wakes the battery.
