Police Hunting Down Motorist Who 'Killed Stray Dog For Barking'

BANGKOK — Police say they are looking for the motorist who shot and killed a stray dog because it was barking at his car.

Panita Sunthornrat, a 45-year-old resident in Thonglor district of Bangkok, told police today that the stray dog was shot near Imperial Ladprao shopping mall on the night of 13 January.

Panita said the nine-year-old dog was nicknamed "Sue Bue" by locals residents, who often gave her food. She was not an "aggressive" animal, Panita said.

According to Panita, Sue Bue barked at a passing car on 13 January. The gesture somehow prompted the driver to stop the car, step out of the vehicle, fire two shots at the dog, and drive away, Panita said.

The dog later died at an animal hospital.

Panita urged police to identify and prosecute the motorist with the newly-enacted animal welfare act, which was passed by the junta's interim parliament in November 2014. Under the law, those found guilty of animal cruelty face up to two years in prison and a 40,000 baht fine.

Roger Lohanan, director of Association for Protection of Animals Thailand, accompanied Panita to the police station and told the officers that he hoped they would quickly apprehend the suspect because the incident is a "serious instance of animal cruelty."

"It should be an example case to show that perpetrators will be punished," Roger said.

Police say they are studying CCTV footage in the area to look for the suspect.

I shall never understand the Thai. Some hiso fucker obliterates a copper and gets to hang out in Singapore without penalty yet a publicly spirited citizen kindly, and at his own expense, helps to control the urban population of mangy curs and they get their knickers all in a twist.

    Go figure.

Or how about where it's a cultural given here in LOS if you run down someone with your vehicle it's better to make sure that person has expired.

Back up and roll over him/her again to make sure because if they live, you are responsible for them for the rest of their lives.

There are numerous psychological studies that have shown a correlation between animal cruelty and violence towards humans, including murder and serial killing, so if Thailand starts taking this crime seriously, like we have in the West for years, more than animals may benefit.

"Beginning in 2016, the FBI also will begin collecting data on animal cruelty. This will enable the bureau to learn more about a correlation between animal cruelty and other crimes. Serial killers, for instance, often have histories of torturing and killing animals."

Suspected 'Drive-By Dog Shooter' Surrenders to Police

BANGKOK — The motorist who allegedly shot and killed a stray dog in Bangkok last week surrendered himself to police today.

Wicha Boonluelak, 32, identified himself as the man who police have accused of shooting a nine-year-old female dog named "Sue Bue" on Lat Prao Road on 13 January. The incident was captured on CCTV footage.

Witnesses told police that Sue Bue was barking at the car before the driver got out of the vehicle and fired at her. The dog later died at an animal hospital. Panita Sunthornrat, a 45-year-old resident in the area, then filed a complaint with police, urging them to prosecute the driver with the newly-passed animal protection law.

Police have charged Wicha with animal cruelty, possessing a firearm without a permit, using firearm in residential area without due cause, and carrying a firearm into residential area without due cause.

Wicha and his lawyer met with police at Chokechai Police Station at around 8 am today. He denied all charges and told police that he would only give testimony in the court.

^ Then the scumbag was released on bail. Carrying a gun illegally, trying to run over dogs, then shooting one is the kind of psychopathic behavior which shows that this overgrown baby boy a homicide waiting to happen.

Anyone doubt he would be just about as likely to shoot a human that honked a horn at him as he was a dog that barked at him?

Mall dog killer surrenders to police | Bangkok Post: news

    From the article:
The slain dog, known as Darng Khao or Sue Bua, was owned by Panita Soontharat, 45, police said.
It's a miracle! The "stray" dog now has a owner.

^The video shows (3) three dogs chasing the car. The driver stopped and 2 dogs went away. The third dog remained barking and acting aggressively. The driver rolled down his window and shot the dog.

I wondered as I watched this take place last week, how many times these same feral dogs had harassed or bitten someone passing on this soi prior to the dogs demise?

The real killer is the interview of the persons filing the complaint, a fat Thai mistress and her dumb ass foreigner husband.

Warning: Watching Thai News can make you ill.

In the last 11 years of living here, I've been bitten once and manage to punt the dog half a block.

In the last three days, I've had dogs go after me twice to where I had to pick up a weapon. I'm buying a BB gun to carry in my bag.

Why is it that its perfectly ok to kill some kinds of animals by the 1000's or even 1000000's but dogs are off limits? Ever eat a steak? Pork?
Just because humans gave it a stupid fucking name doesnt make it human. It was an aggressive animal, the asshole did the village a service.
The only part I disagree with is the use of a gun he might have shot someone or something that didnt deserve it. I would have used a big stick.
So many are hypocrites in modern society.

    P.S. I love animals.
I'm not saying it was Aliens, but it was Aliens!

Too true. Society should come up with a foolproof ignorance test, if you are found ignorant you are killed and eaten. Think of all the poor innocent pigs and cows that would be saved from slaughter. We could feed the world!

What other country carries a 2 year jail sentence plus 40,000 Baht fine if you mistreat a dog, but if a dog bites you there's very little that one can do by law?

This should include all the "collecting" pick-ups that travel the roads throughout the country gathering stray dogs [domestic or not] for consumption, or not?

    Immune to these laws.

Actually, they're doing yeoman's work and the country a favour.
