A man and a boy went missing and believed drowned when a jeep in which they were travelling was swept out of a bridge in Songkhla’s Thepa district by strong currents.
A search was mounted but it was yet to locate the two victims, one of them identified as Suhaimee Hamakachorn, 18.

Mr Amnart Pholmart, chief of the public disaster prevention and mitigation office in Songkhla, said today that he would propose the Songkhla governor, Mr Thamrong Charoenkul, to declare Muang, Singha Nakhon, Bang Klam and Ranod districts disaster zones due to worsening flood situation.

Earlier, eight districts of Songkhla were already declared disaster zones.

The situation in Hat Yai municipal area remains normal today with the “green flag” being hoisted but eight communities along U-tapao canal have been placed under close watch with “yellow flag” being hoisted.

The public disaster prevention and mitigation office in Hat Yai announced that the situation in Hat Yai would soon return to normal if there are no more rains.
