Lawmakers have enacted a bill aimed at clamping down on inappropriate in flight behaviours.
The National Legislative Assembly on Friday voted to pass an amendment to the 1978 civil aviation offenses law after the number of cases involving inappropriate in flight behaviours had increased.
The new law also covers airport seizures and destruction of aircraft or airport facilities with the maximum penalty of execution or life in prison.
New offences against passengers are also added, such as smoking in lavatories, hurting other people, verbally harassing others and using electronic devices during prohibited times.
The punishments range from jail terms of 1-5 years or fines of 40,000 to 200,000 baht.
