Tourist police, charity rescue German beggar

The tourism police and a German charity have come to the aid of a German man with excessively swollen legs, found begging near Khao San Road in Bangkok, after his photos were distributed and shared on social media.

Chumphol Thiangtham, chairman of the Deutscher Hilfsverein Thailand eV, said yesterday that Benjamin Holse had been put up at a guesthouse following coordination between his organisation and officials from the German Embassy. The man will be taken to the embassy on Monday to be given a new passport after further verification of his identity.

Chumphol said the German organisation officials had earlier approached Holse and offered help but he had turned it down. Tourism police, after learning about Holse from social media, stepped in and contacted Chumphol again for help, he added.

He said Holse had arrived in Thailand on September 2 by a Chinese Eastern Airlines flight on a one-way ticket. A tourism policeman, Pol Lieutenant Piyaphong Bukhunthos, said police first contacted Holse on Wednesday and the German had said his passport, wallet and other documents had been stolen.

A police Facebook page later quoted Holse as saying that the excessive swelling on his legs was a congenital symptom and his condition was neither elephantiasis nor painful.

Bloody hell I know it says it isn't painful , but can you imagine in all that heat how uncomfortable it is ?

I,m not sure , but I think that can also be a sign of something far more serious like kidney failure , what ever it is he needs to get back to krautland to get himself sorted before far more serious problems set in

Sounds a bit of an unlikely story but I wish him well and hope he gets some treatment soon
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Sounded like he made a decision to make a living begging in Thailand, coming here on a one way ticket and promptly having his belongings stolen. Maybe he thought warm weather was better for his condition than the cold winters of Yermany.

That's a person with Lymphodema. It was treatable, and it appears that the person chose not to seek appropriate treatment or to follow the measures used to reduce the collection of lymph fluid. In such cases, the person is usually mentally ill. Germany has an advanced health care system and provides supplementary assistance for people with this kind of illness. He should be removed from Thailand asap and sent back to Germany to receive the psychological and physical care his condition warrants.

Deportation request for dishonest German Beggar from Pattaya Tourist Police

Pattaya’s Tourist Police have requested Immigration to deport a German man who has been begging for money on Pattaya Beach during the day and using the money to purchase drink and prostitutes at night.

Mr. Benjamin Holst aged 29, first came to the attention of the authorities after he was found sleeping on the streets near Kao San Road in Bangkok. Khun Sirirat from a German Travel Association based in Bangkok, agreed to help Mr. Holst in conjunction with the Tourist Police in Bangkok. She began by providing a Hotel room and food for Mr. Holst and agreed to take him to the German Embassy in Bangkok to obtain a new passport, so he could travel back to Germany.
A total of 40,000 Baht was raised by the Association and others concerned for Mr. Holst, who agreed to meet Khun Sirirat at the German Embassy. Instead he is believed to have gone to the Embassy at an earlier time to obtain an emergency passport but he then travelled to Pattaya with the 40,000 Baht and began begging on Pattaya Beach during the day and frequenting bars at night..............

There is currently no known uniform medical procedure to cure lipedema.
So herein lies the reason? 29 years old has a condition to which he thinks there is no cure so why not go whoring and drinking.

Everyone’s favorite German beggar spotted begging in Denmark

The infamous German beggar who previously spent cash donated by Thais to “rescue” him on drinkin’ and partyin’ in Pattaya has followed his career into the streets of Denmark.

Benjamin Holst, 29, was found begging on street of Denmark yesterday by a Thai citizen who decided to snap that smile as evidence that he’s doing just great – after being deported by Thai customs in September for being a complete douchebag.

Holst, aka the farang beggar with the big foot, was rescued in late September after he was found homeless on Khaosan Road.

He received THB50,000 to get a flight home from Deutscher Hilfsverein Thailand, an organization that helps German citizens.

It took only about one day after he got ahold of the cash for photos to turn up of Holst partying with bar girls in Pattaya, breaking the hearts of his well-meaning benefactors.
Pattaya police arrested him for “causing a public nuisance” and deported him.

Notorious ‘big-leg beggar’ thrown off flight due to Thai travel ban

Notorious “big-leg beggar” Benjamin Holst has been refused entry onto a Thai Airways flight to Laos via Bangkok.

Sharing his frustration on Facebook yesterday (Tuesday, September 12), the German wrote: “Trouble whit Thai airways ): f**k Thai airways.” [sic]

He has since caught a flight to Seoul, South Korea, where has already shared pictures of a lavish meal and pole-dancing bar.

It is not known whether he plans to visit the Philippines during his current tour of Southeast Asia.

Holst uses his grotesquely deformed leg to trick kind-hearted people into funding a lifestyle of constant travel and partying.

As we have previously reported, he first hit the headlines in 2014 when he claimed to be stranded in Thailand without a passport. A local charitable fund gave him about $1,500 and other well-wishers also donated.

He then travelled to Pattaya, where he blew the cash on food, drink and bargirls.

After sharing boastful posts on his Facebook page, his story went viral and he was deported and blacklisted from returning to Thailand.

It was this ban that prevented him touching down in the country yesterday, even for a flight transfer.

Holst suffers from a rare form of gigantism called macrodystrophia lipomatosa. This has caused his left leg to swell severely, earning his big-leg beggar nickname.

Although it looks painful and debilitating, he has no mobility problems and it does not affect his general health.

In May 2015, he visited the Philippines, staying in upmarket hotels in Manila in Angeles City. He then moved on to Indonesia.

Soon after police arrested and deported him as he partied with girls using the money he got from panhandling.

He has also been barred from Singapore for begging.

Far from showing any shame about his activities, he seems to revel in what he calls his “work”, regularly boasting of the glamorous side of his double life to his near 5,000 followers on Facebook.

Excellent, they've spared poor Laotians from being conned into supporting this fucking scrounger.

Why doesn't his home country take away his passport, he is an embarrassment.
