The key word is "sometimes" but the police have discounted any Thai from being involved based on nothing other than racial profiling, the hope that it was a foreigner, and the fact that Burmese may commit a higher percentage of crime historically, which is very poor policework.

Either that or they put it down to suicide so that they can get back to their somtam.

There are three solutions to criminal investigations in this wretched country: those based on evidence, those that are politically or socially acceptable and those that are influenced by financial considerations.

In tourist spots it is not desirable that a Thai should be convicted but in certain circumstances it may be unavoidable. Burmese or other foreign immigrant labour convicted of crimes in Thailand are a great result for the Thai since this exculpates Thai and bolsters the belief fostered by the Thai Tourism Authority that Thai folk are all sweet, polite, affable little hobbit like creatures.

Thai are actually the most violent folk one could find in S.E.Asia and have great difficulty in dealing with anger management issues.

Ok Coconut, put it on the map for you?

Don't pay too much credit to what any thai spokesman says to the media.
It usually has little to do with reality and all about saving face..

Yes I agree. If this was in Britain, David Cameron would be saying how disgusting an act it was and passing his sympathy to the relatives. the Thai PM is only feeling sorry for Thailand and worrying about image and tourist dollars.

BBC News - Thailand deaths: Police have 'number of suspects'
The country's Prime Minister, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, said: "This should not have happened in Thailand. It will affect our image in the eyes of international countries."

The fact that the girl had facial injuries is significant. Forensic analysts say that this kind of attack indicates a personal dislike by the attacker.....for whatever reason.

I have spent the day reading this forum. There is a real trend happening about what I mentioned.

He had back of head injuries which means he was probably on top of her face down and she was face up when they were both attacked

Or that she was screaming, and the drugged-up shit just hit her in the head with whatever was at hand.

Well it was a monumentally stupid thing for a cop to suggest that a Thai person could not have committed such a brutal crime....that's a fact. Thais can be about as bloodthirsty and brutal as you can get, but few would ever be able to admit such a thing.

Lack of "open mindedness" was something of an understatement by the BBC..... The BIB may have some genuine reason to focus on the local Burmese in this case, but there is no way to know yet.
    I blame the Americans......and Thaksin.

That was my point. I know that the Burmese can commit violent crimes. My point was that the BIB was putting the blame on the Burmese before the blood dried, and certainly before they had had time to do any investigative work.

I got burgled some years ago and the police tried to convince me that the break in was carried out by other farangs living in the area. They claimed that it would have only been other farangs that knew where and what I had in the house.

There is a huge Burmese work force on Tao. They do all the hard labor whilst the local Thais sit around getting pissed up.

The Burmese get payed piss all and are Isolated from the Thais socially.

    Modern day slaves really.

Usually if its a Thai killing someone its either a gun shot or a knife attack hence why I feel they are looking at the Burmese workers.

Thais don't usually fuk around killing people with hoe's. Too much work involved.

Indeed, Tax, what is is his evidence? He sees a pretty girl who was popular and automatically this sorry sack of unadulterated shite of a fat bellied Maj General assumes that she he is of loose morals, has many partners and therefore a disaffected boyfriend must be the culprit. Can you imagine a Chief Superintendent in the UK coming out with this crap within 24 hrs of a murder enquiry?

Irrespective of what happens, this turd of a policeman should be booted out but because we are in a shit country where such scum can attain positions of power we must endure their offensive and ignorant piggish ways.

Christ, how I detest the Thai.

I just hope Cameron and Kent get on the ball quickly and start making noises about this fat Thai cvunt.

That comes across very clearly in almost all of your posts.

Serious question: Why then do you continue to live in Thailand? I know you are married to a Thai, and presumably you must have had some positive feelings about the people/country at one time since you moved there, but why now prolong the agony?

Surely there must be other options?

There are quite a few whore bars on Tao scattered around on the outer roads.

As per usual the working girls service who ever coughs up with the baht, usually older farang scum who can't pull a Backpacker.

    Jesus,

These working girls would be murdered on a daily basis if being of loose morals was a valid reason for murder.

I've been to that exact spot many times.

Workers must of been doing work and left it there.

No one walks around carrying that sort of implement in the middle of the night.

I know it sounds biased but I can see why the pigs are looking at the Burmese workers first.

Not saying it was a Burmese worker for sure but its not a bad place to start given the situation down there.

For TheGent, and others like him, there aren't possible options.
They'll continue to live sad, frustrated, and hateful existences.
