Thailand to prosecute Tesco e-blackmail
Bangkok police officers on Saturday brought the Briton who confessed to sending threatening emails to retail giant Tesco executives in an attempt to extort funds from the retail giant to reenact his crime, with police expressing confidence that they will submit the case for prosecution next week.
The reenactment started at two internet cafes in Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 4 - the Nana entertainment district - and the accused man is now detained in police custody.
Alexander Winstone, 36, confessed to sending email via the Internet to Tesco executives. The email threatened to poison food at branches of the international retail company if it failed to pay extortion money of 2 million British pounds (136 million baht).
Investigators are checking his criminal record and will conclude the case before handing it over to state prosecutors next week for prosecution.
The British Embassy in Bangkok plans to seek 400,000-baht bail for the suspect on Monday. (TNA)
Wonder if Tesco will turn him into canned dogmeat?
I refuse to accept that he is guilty until I see a picture of someone pointing at him.
^The English police dont do that, they probably had captain somchai going "You point you point" and they were just looking at him a bit perplexed.
