Huge haul of illegal timber found in the resort of Charupong Ruangsuwan’s son

About 300 golden teak planks wrapped in plastic sheets were found buried in the resort in Mae Hong son province owned by the son of former PheuThai party leader and interior minister Charupong Ruangsuwan.

Army personnel, police and local officials of Pai district went to the Pai River Rock resort owned by Dr Charuwong Ruangsuwan with a backhoe to search for suspected war weapons and other illegal items believed buried under the ground in the compound of the resort.

About 300 golden teak planks were found buried about three metres under ground.

More diggings are to be carried out to search for war weapons thought to be hidden in the resort.

Dr Charuwong was not at the resort and was believed to have escaped overseas while Mr Charupong is also living in exile abroad.
