The National Anti-Corruption Commission is looking into the assets of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her five ministers to find out if there are any ill-gotten gains from the rice pledging scheme.
NACC deputy secretary-general Mr Worawit Sookboon said today (Tuesday) that the corruption watchdog had already received books detailing assets and liabilities from some of the ministers. An official will soon be appointed to be in charge of the case, he added.

Besides Ms Yingluck, the other ministers whose assets are now being examined are deputy prime ministers Kittirat Na-Ranong and Niwattumrong Boonsongphaisan, former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyaphirom and former depty commerce ministers Yanyong Puangrach and Poom Saraphol.

Meanwhile today Mr Somchart Soithong, director-general of Internal Trade Department, testified before the NACC about the operations of the rice pledging scheme as part of the probe into Ms Yingluck’s alleged neglect in overseeing the scheme resulting massive loss.

But who is investigating the assets of these NACC appointees, and the assets of the invisible hand that appointed them?

    Its a joke really innit.

Such deep rooted corruption embedded balls deep in the country and they target Yingluk. ?

I have no problem with that but to be fair and consistent they need to keep going down the line.

Thing is it would take a life time to complete EH.

Love Thailand, always something going down.

Targeting the deposed PM. If they can't find anything, I'm sure they'll invent something. Of all the senior ministers and PMs who have served Thailand in the past decade, I am certain, Yingluck was one of the few that would be the least likely to have stolen government funds. She had money before taking office and knew she was always at risk of a coup and retribution like this. She had a clean reputation before taking office and it was unlikely she would have changed in a few years. This is just the coup backers trying to show who is boss.

It will probably get you a criminal defamation suit if you suggest that Uncle Suthep is not a wonderful person. His book, "The Power of Change" is still on sale while other books are being taken away. Whistles are still allowed as symbols but redshirts are not.
