    Published: 24 Mar 2014

A monk was beaten up by red-shirt supporters on Monday after he had allegedly reproved them for blocking traffic near the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in Muang district.

    They are above all of this . . . until . . .

. . . one of their own can block roads, destroy property and generally screw up people's lives and all is ok . . .

Others do it and monks become active.

No saying it is right at all . . . yet I do wonder of he tried the same thing with the other side?

I don't think it has anything to do with that, Tony - on virtually every other thread regarding monks here they are put down, ridiculed, blasted . . . but in this instance it is supposed to be a 'Thaksin' issue.

Still - no justification for hitting him

Anyway, he could be just another three-week monk, just out of jail or trying to evade jail or just generally fake.

Nothing special about monks. Blatant hypocrisy to start whinging because one of them got a beating. I notice over on TV that all the geriatric sexpats are weeping crocodile tears over this 'atrocity', the same geriatric sexpats who also happen to believe that all ordained males are paedophiles. Hypocrites!

Anyway, perhaps he was trying to extort a little too much money from the local hotel!

^^^ More shit from Dr. Bob.
Whatever happened it does not warrant 20 buffaloes to beat one person.
What's with these females hitting a monk for hell's sake.
    Karma will deal with them.

they are mostly, like men of the cloth the world over, parasites.

thai temples, fascinating and beautiful for first timers in the country soon come to resemble glitzy tinseltown arcades, with their begging bowls, donation boxes and outstretched hands as they collect for yet another new roof, an even bigger gold encrusted buddha and a new photo station for visitors to post on facebook.

but the story below shows real god given sleaziness, pandering to the fear and superstition that courses through the veins of every thai brainwashed by these awful priests.

It is a great photo from a news perspective. Likely an award winner. But where were the photos in mainstream front page Thai media of the Reds beaten and killed and dredged from the Chao Phraya? There is a photo of one the guys in a hospital bed, but my point is the Thai media as we know are highly selective of which photo events to publish and highlight. And they invariably choose to highlight the ones where reds are violent and avoid similar of the yellows.
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

Also - do we know these are 'bona fide' incidents? Could it have been staged? Who are the people involved? Sudden newbies, or well known in their own circles? So many questions that the hapless (or deliberately avoided) Thai press so rarely pursue

From what i have read he hit someone with a cane, whether he's a monk or not anyone that hits someone, its possible they may get the same in return, though as we know in Thailand its never one on one.

These reports we are reading are all part of the propaganda shit by both sides.

According to Phra Prat, he was attacked shortly after walking out of Soi Nonthaburi 48, where he attended a funeral for his son.

He probably went into the "Hood" as his son had died - that's how it works.

Coming back from the funeral - feeling shit - get's pissed off and shouts - gets a beating.

Yes............and were not quite so vociferous over the bloke bound , beaten and thrown in the river, probably by the same PDRC guards who murdered two others ( as claimed by police after forensic examination ). No arrests there yet and unlikely there ever will be despite the police having some video footage of the pickup used to move the victim.

A monk looking for trouble and finding it hardly warrents its own thread.

Nothing to see here ............... move on please
