Shame really as i suspect he could have saved himself some serious cash at election time, however, there is little doubt that his party have recouped those losses several times over by now.

It has been a wee bit quiet of late, so i am looking forward to the amnesty bill battle.

Possibly true, though then again if the dems had a leader that could connect with the people maybe they would have a chance.

Both Thaksin and Yingluck have the abilty.

^^ I would disagree and go so far as to say Yingluck has no ability whatsoever.

    Tearful PM calls for forgiving
    November 4, 2013

With tears in her eyes, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Monday called for all sides in the political conflicts to forgive and forget and have compassion toward one another.

Yingluck made the call when members of 24 families, whose relatives were killed during the red-shirt crackdowns in 2010, met her at the Government House.

The group expressed support for the amnesty bill, saying relatives of the slain protesters agreed that the amnesty would be he best way-out for the country so that it could move forward.

Yingluck thanked the group of relatives with tears in her eyes.

They blocked one side of the main avenues there on their march to the Democracy monument today at noon. From there I guess that bigwig politician from the south then led them to the Emerald Buddha from what the papers say. It's growing and the reds seem to be mixed up as whoever controls the red airwaves has apparently canceled some of the shows of the red leaders who oppose amnesty.

Seems to me the people of Esarn will see all the annoying protests again and vote against those who are causing them. It's kind of a no win situation for the Democrats other than getting the amnesty bill possibly stopped. From what I just heard, the way things work in this political system the senate doesn't have to approve it before it is sent to the king and on top of that it doesn't need to be approved by the king in the end to actually be passed. Not sure about this but who knows?

Truth Commission-style resolutions surely require some transparency about what transgressions have happened. (Rather than sweeping it all under the carpet)

Apparently Thais have been writing open letters to their overdraft providers on social media today, saying 'I'm not paying you back - forgive me'.

This thread is full of utter bolloks that has been repeated by the polarized, time after time. For the supposedly educated foreigners to buy into it is pretty sad, imho...

    Let the voters decide.

I cant see him returning until the county has recently entered a prolonged period of "national mourning" that will make street protests highly illegal and "inappropriate"

I reckon hes just lining his ducks up for the big event

I haven't met one yet that has voted for the policies of the candidate. They'd vote for a snake if it was paying the highest bribe.

This issue is dead, but kept alive by [all camps] to distract.

Where a true amnesty legislation would be appropriate:
So-called political [enemies] prisoners.....imprisoned or exiled [past/present] by a controlling and paranoid regime.
Apparently quite a lot of people give a f**k and the issue is very much alive
or don't you read the newspapers or watch the news on t.v ?
It's only alive because the establishment promotes it this way.
The only reason such is an issue......repeated over and again.

It hasn't been an issue for the masses for some time now.

The basics of simple propaganda are easily absorbed by those whom haven't a clue.

Seems as there is more of an interest in Thaksin references throughout the outsider, foreign, and Farang circles than anywhere.
