A group of 10 Chinese tourists spent the night at a police station in Pattaya because they were unhappy with the standard of accommodation and security at the hotel they were booked into by their Chinese tour guide, reports said on Thursday.

The reports said the tourists took their luggage to Muang Pattaya police station and camped there.

They claimed their tour guide from China Youth Travel Service was trying to trick them into staying at a hotel that did not meet the standard agreed upon when they booked the trip.

The tourists told police that the tour agency promised them rooms at a five-star hotel, but they were taken to the three-star LK Paragon hotel instead. They believed the hotel was not sufficiently safe and not worth the money they had paid in advance.

Police apparently tried to contact the tour guide, but the person was unreachable. Tourist police later took them to another hotel, where they were satisfied.
