Yup. It's a peculiarly precious and petulant animal too.

Must be it's upbringing (or lack of).

a nasty accident brings out the people who know all about Thais

makes you wonder if those people have any real knowledge about anything, or just post their knee-jerk ignorance to appear superior

I really have no idea how their minds work

^ There doesn't seem to be much refuting of the few points made.

Snideness seems to win the day.

Would be great to get a real discussion going about the overall causes of this ongoing issue. Those who seem to disagree with points put forward don't seem to be able to drag themselves past forwarding insults though, never mind addressing or putting forward their superior knowledge on the matter. Pity really, but suppose it certainly says a lot about them.

Of Course it would not have occurred to the driver to have a cursory look in either direction before attempting the crossing, cos last time he did it there was nothing coming ,so by Thai Thinking it should have been clear before he attempted the same thing again!Another van-train crash in Kanchanaburi | Bangkok Post: breakingnews

What I know about Thais is what I see: That is, they are some of the most reckless, ignorant , selfish drivers on the planet. The more complaints and exposure the better, because for some cultural reasons Thais cannot seem to complain about anything. Like all these jerkoff Thai male minivan drivers. Regarding cultural reasons part of the problem is that Thai males are not controlled by the family. And even Stevie Wonder can see how that worked out.

Here we go again, change the country. The subject at hand is the reckless driving
by Thais in Thailand. And I said ' some ' of the most reckless ...
If you want to defend or mitigate the reckless ,ignorant, selfish minivan, tour bus,
and pickup drivers here - knock yourself out.

I would think its safe to say that Thailand is far from alone in this respect , Most far Eastern Country's such as Cambodia and Lao's are equally as bad ,IMHO were there is a bone idle corrupt lackadaisical Police force and a driving test a Brook Bond Chimpanzee could pass, then these terrible accidents we read about on a quite regular basis will carry on till the cows come home!

Currently the term progressive is synonymous with retarded. At least this is the case in US political circles.
