Mr Noppadol confessed that he had stolen cash from convenience stores in four areas since Tuesday because he needed money to pay his rent and instalments on his motorcycle, according to police.

Police said Mr Noppadol has a prior criminal record. He was arrested for stealing in Pathum Thani province.

BANGKOK - A lone robber held up four convenience stores in one night and made away with more than 15,000 baht in cash.
Police first received a report on Thursday night of a robbery at a Family Mart store on Rama II soi 2 in Chom Thong district of Bangkok.
Employee Kittiyaporn Pamai told the police that the robber was male, 25-30 years old, and wore a mask and motorcycle helmet. He forced her at knifepoint to give him money. He took 600 baht cash from her and fled the scene.
Later that night, police were told a man of a similar description robbed another Family Mart in Rama II soi 30. Employee Tanatya Putapetch said the robber held her at knifepoint. She handed him 1,890 baht.
The knifeman then hit a third 24-hour store only minutes later. This time, he chose a Max Value shop at soi Suksawat 36 in Rat Burana district.
Preeyanuch Uppakarakij, the store employee, told police that she was threatened in the same manner. The thief struck when the security guard was on a restroom break and made away with 8,000 baht.
The man finished off the night by robbing a fourth store, Family Mart at soi Suksawat 50. Store employees Rutiporn Chansome and Narumon Gangkokgruad told police the man first pretended to be a shopper but later pulled out a six-inch sharp-pointed knife and threatened them. Afraid for their lives, they gave him a total of 5,000 baht from the till. The robber then fled on a motorcycle.
Police said CCTV camera images from the four crime scenes will be examined. Investigators believe the four shops were robbed by the same person, who fled on a pink Yamaha Fino with the licence plate removed.
