Woman gruesomely murdered

A woman has been found gruesomely murdered, her throat cut and body slashed and covered in burns, in a room at an apartment building in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi province.

Police said they received a report of the murder on Thursday afternoon.

At the scene, they found a naked woman lying dead on the bed. Her throat was deeply cut and her left ear was severed. There were many stab marks on her left arm and also a deep cut in her groin area. There were also burn marks all over her body.

There was handwriting on her lower belly and both calves, according to a report in Thai Rath.

The woman was later identified as Acharanee Rakcheu, 22, a car sales representative. Her cat was also killed, its body found next to the bed. Police estimated that she had been dead for one or two days.

The room's owner, Wichien Cheychom, said Acharanee and her boyfriend had rented the room about a month ago. Her family lived nearby and she wanted somewhere private she could be with her boyfriend.

Mr Wichien said was informed by the condominium management there was a smell of smoke coming from the room. He could not contact the tenant so decided to open the room with a spare key on Thursday afternoon -- and discovered the gory murder scene.

Thanom Thongjam, an electrician employed by the building, said he was requested to check the room on Jan 1 around 2am after the resident of the room next door reported smelling smoke coming from the room. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. So he decided to cut the power to the room for safety reasons.

Chatcharin Rakcheu, 21, the deceased woman's brother, told police that he, his sister and her boyfriend, known to him only as Bank, went out for a countdown party at a restaurant in Rangsit area. At the party Acharanee and her boyfriend got into a jealous argument. They separated around 1am on Jan 1.

Mr Chatcharin went to his family's home where about 3am he heard someone acting suspiciously near the house. He armed himself with a sword and went to check.

He found Bank was about to set fire to the house, Mr Chatcharin said. He yelled at him and Bank fled away. He said there was no doubt in his mind that Bank killed his sister.

Police said they will try to find Bank and question him.

Suspect sought in brutal slaying

Police are searching for a young man suspected of brutally killing his girlfriend during the New Year celebration.

Monitoring of mobile-phone calls by the suspect, Pairoj Nantatanti, 22, showed that he last used the device in Ratchaburi. An informed source said Pairoj had many friends, and it was possible one of them had helped him flee to Cambodia.

"One of his close friends has lived in that country," the source said.

Police believe Pairoj fatally attacked his girlfriend out of jealousy, as she was attractive and drew the attention of many men.

The victim's body was found inside her own condominium in Nonthaburi on Thursday. Police said she had sustained multiple stab wounds and some parts of her body were burned. It was believed that she had been killed two days earlier.

ARREST WARRANT

Nonthaburi police chief Maj-General Tanayut Wuttijarasthamrong said yesterday that in the presence of solid evidence, the court had approved an arrest warrant for Pairoj.

He warned Pairoj's friends and relatives against hiding the suspect.

"Giving shelter to a wanted man is a legal offence," he said.

Tanayut said the crime was shocking and had received much public attention. He said police were trying to track Pairoj down.

Police have interrogated six witnesses including a security guard at the condominium. The investigation revealed that the victim and her boyfriend often quarrelled. Pairoj was described as violent and aggressive.

The victim's younger brother hoped Pairoj would be brought to justice.

A funeral will be held for the victim in Pattani and the cremation ceremony will take place on Tuesday.

Nonthaburi police said they were confident they would soon arrest a young man suspected of brutally killing his girlfriend during the New Year celebration.

Police believed the suspect is still in the country as they had monitored his friends' movements and they would not be able to help him flee.

Suspect Pairoj Nantatanti, 22, was earlier feared to have fled to Cambodia with help from one of his friends.

Police believe Pairoj fatally stabbed and burned his girlfriend out of jealousy, as she was attractive and had drawn the attention of many men.

He is a soldier, 22 years old. He confessed to killing her but said he didn't mean it. His reason for getting into such a situation/predicament whereby he ended up murdering his girlfriend, was.....that she was jealous and they argued.....

CHIANG MAI – Police on Monday arrested a man who allegedly killed his girlfriend and then attempted arson.

Police named the suspect as Pairoj Nantatunti, who was accused of murdering Acharanee Rakcheu, 22, in an apartment in Nonthaburi province last week.

At the scene, police found a naked woman lying dead on the bed. Her throat was deeply cut and her left ear was severed. There were many stab marks on her left arm and also a deep cut in her groin area. There were also burn marks all over her body.

There was handwriting on her lower belly and both calves. Her cat was also killed, its body found next to the bed.

The victim's brother, Chatcharin Rakcheu, 21, said he also saw the suspect trying to burn down his house.

Mr Chatcharin said his sister had an argument with Pairoj on the day she was murdered. He was convinced that Pairoj was responsible for his sister's death.

Police said they received reports from Chiang Mai police that Pairoj was hiding in Mae Rim district. Villagers said he had shaved his head to hide his identity.

The suspect participated in an ordination ceremony at a local temple. He was arrested wearing a monk robe as he tried to flee across the border.

The man has been transported to Bangkok for further questioning. Police will reveal more details of the case on Tuesday.

A man who savagely murdered his girlfriend in an apartment in Nonthaburi province on Jan 3 has been arrested trying to flee the country and has admitted to the crime, police said on Tuesday.

Pairoj Nantatunti, 22, was arrested in Chiang Mai province when he was allegedly trying to sneak out of the country. He was apprehended along with Adisak Kruep-am, 61, who was helping the suspect escape.

Police tracked them down near the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Ai district in the far north of Chiang Mai.

The suspect admitted to his crime, according to police, saying that he was in a relationship with the victim, Acharanee Rakcheu, 22, for about one year.

During that time she was involved with several other men, which triggered a fight between them, he said.

Mr Pairoj said he was drunk and the victim insulted him and his mother so he lost his temper and killed her.

The woman's throat was slashed and her left ear was severed. There were many stab marks on her left arm and also a deep cut in her groin area and burn marks all over her body. There was handwriting on her lower belly and both calves. Her cat was also killed, its body found next to the bed.

After the murder, he fled to Ratchaburi province and then contacted Mr Adisak to help him get out of the country.

Police said the suspect has seven outstanding warrants for his arrest, including assault, carrying a gun without a licence and attempted bribery.

He is also wanted for his part in a 21 million baht scam when he was a Krung Thai bank employee in 2009.

I daresay someone in the family will wai a tree, slobber to a few monks and then pay whatever someone asks and the little scumbag will be at liberty in the fullness of time to do pretty much as he likes.
