Drunk Russians On Beach Mugged by Thai Thugs

Two Russian men were beaten and robbed by three Thai men on Pattaya Beach. The Russians had been drinking at a Walking Street bar, but then went to drink on the beach. The Thais asked to drink with them, but suddenly tore off one victim's gold necklace and beat the Russians before escaping. Police later caught one suspect.

PATTAYA – December 7, 2012 [PDN]; at 3:30 a.m., a report of two foreign tourists getting beaten and injured on Pattaya Beach was received by Pol. Capt. Yongyuth Warnneur, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station.

The incident occurred on Pattaya beach near the old bridge before Walking Street. One of the injured foreigners had run to ask for help from motorbike drivers, who were stationed at the parking lot with motorbikes-for-hire in front of Pattaya Bay walk on the beach side of the road.

Police arrived at the scene and found the two injured foreign tourists, identified as Mr. Stas Troyan, age 18; and Mr. Mayim Elechov, age 33, from Russia. Both of them were drunk and had wounds from being beaten with a hard object.

Mr. Stas had wounds on his face, head and ears, which were bleeding heavily, as well as bruises on his body. His friend, Mr. Mayim, had a facial wound and several bruises on his body. The rescue officer of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation performed first aid on the victims.

During questioning by police, the foreigners who spoke only a little English, described what happened. The two Russians said they had been drinking liquor in a Walking Street pub. Then they left the pub and sat to drink on the beach near the old bridge.

Then about 2 or 3 young Thai men asked to drink liquor together with them. But suddenly the Thai men yanked the gold necklace off the neck of one Russian. So the two foreigners fought back to recover his necklace.

But the drunk Russians were beaten and severely injured by the three Thais, who then escaped. So the two injured foreigners ran to ask for assistance from the motorbike drivers-for-hire.

Police asked nearby bystanders if they had seen the beating and robbery, in order to help them find and arrest the trouble makers. But no one cooperated with the police. So the police had to ask the injured victims to describe their attackers. However, the injured Russians could not describe the Thai thugs, recalling only that they were three young Thai men. So the police dispersed forces to search for the trouble makers.

The police then detained a suspicious man walking near the entrance of soi 13/3 on second Pattaya road. He was identified as Mr. Maroot Janhom or Rooj, age 39, from Tambon Sabsomboon, Amphur Wicheanburi, Petchaboon province.

The heavily-tattooed Thai suspect appeared to be one of the trouble makers, after police searched Mr. Maroot’s body and found the identity card of one of the beaten Russians. Police also found a “knuckle duster” in a bag he was carrying.

Mr. Maroot’s hands also had some scratches, as if he had just fought with someone. However, Mr. Maroot claimed to police that he didn’t make any trouble and he was going to see his girlfriend.

But the police didn’t believe him, so the police brought Mr. Maroot to the Russian victims to identify whether he was one of the trouble makers. At first the Russians were not sure that Mr. Maroot was one of the trouble makers. But when they looked again, they confirmed that Mr. Maroot was one of the 3 trouble makers.

But Mr. Maroot still insisted that he didn’t make any trouble with anyone. However, the police didn’t believe Mr. Maroot, because the victims confirmed that he is one of the trouble makers. So the police brought Mr. Maroot to the police station to investigate and check if he had a criminal history.

They discovered that Mr. Maroot had been in jail several times for carrying a gun, and also for killing someone. However, Mr. Maroot only confessed to consuming drugs, but he still insisted to police that he didn’t make any trouble this time.

But the injured victims still confirmed that Mr. Maroot and his 2 friends really tried to yank their necklace away, and beat them until they got injured. So the police sent Mr. Maroot to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.

Would take at least a dozen Thais to be collectively brave enough to rob a drunk Russian

^At least one of the Thai had brass knuckles, and I'm willing to bet his first hit with them was a sucker punch or from behind.

Wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been wearing it.

Notice how many times the chickenhead press employs the term drunk in reference to these hapless tourists as if the condition somehow implied culpability in their misfortune. It's the Thai way, everyone is subject to karma and if one acts in a manner not associated with the piety of Buddhist beliefs they are tempting fate and therefore deserve what may ensue.

Quite, quite stupid really and an insight into why this place is such a bloody mess.

Back in the real world in any other tourist destination these tourists would have simply been described as innocent victims enjoying themselves on a holiday in a place which positively extolls the virtue of its vibrant nightlife and having had a few drinks they did what tourists do the world over when they visit a seaside resort in a tropical climate, they went to the beach to prolong their fun. Instead they were lured into a faux bonhomie by a bunch of retarded psychopathic chickenheads who beat the crap out of them and stole their valuables.

But TiT and a pile of shite polished by fuckwits to look like what it isn't.

If these drunken Russkies hadn't been so drunk they wouldn't have drunkenly meandered their drunken way to the beach where in their drunkeness they failed to sense the danger that their drunken behaviour was attracting the attention of some Thai who couldn't resist the easy pickings represented by these drunken Russkies.

Farang fault, obviously. Quite thoughtless of them really.

being drunk is a vital bit of information, as its beyond belief that 4 thais could kick the shit out of 2 sober or midly drunk russian tourists without without everyone ending up in hospital.

    What fucking hogwash..

The Thai media reports the news without the compassionate "victim" bias for the people involved that the western media uses.

even if you manage to avoid getting robbed, hit by lightening or accidentally choked by it
you'll still look a flash posing git.
Nouveau rich tasteless East European scum.
Speaking only one word of Thai and two of English adds to their attractiveness as victims .
