    Pathum Thani: Burglar found electrocuted

Burglar found electrocuted | Bangkok Post: news

Burglar found electrocutedA man thought to be trying to steal car parts has been found dead after climbing over an electric fence to enter a property in Pathum Thani province.

Police said the man's body was found near the garage at a house in Lam Luk Ka district.

He was shirtless and wearing only a sarong. There were burn marks on his right arm and abdomen. He was later identified as Arche Phonak, 31, who lived in Lam Luk Ka district.

The homeowner, Suthep Ngao-dee, 48, told police he put up an electric fence some months ago after his property had been burgled several times and parts stolen from his pickup truck.

The police assume the deceased man was a burglar and was killed by the electric current while climbing the fence.

They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

^ Will be interesting to follow up.
The old granny who protected her kratom plants with the mains wired fence got done for 3 years, but I cant recall if it was for the plants or the dead thief.

Given the standard of electrical work here, anything could be lethal.

It is legal to put up a non lethal one.

The law is that you may take whatever means you see fit to protect your possessions on your property. What I do not know is what happens if the means you take results in a death. Probably not good!

I have a suspicion that lethal electric fences are illegal in thailand, but considering that the dead gent is most probably not a person the police would regard of significant patronage; the home owner will probably be allowed to get away with simply paying for the funeral, a decent wake, and the appropriate fee to the police benevolent fund for a retrospective licence of immunity from manslaughter/murder laws.

I doubt the owner will have to pay anything, the police most likely said som nam na.
