Car chase, murder in Samut Prakan

Two people were killed and two others left wounded in a gangland-style car chase and shooting on a main road in Samut Prakan province on Thursday morning.

Samut Prakan police said the action occurred on Theparak Road in Bang Phli district.

At the scene, the police found a bullet-ridden bronze Honda City parked on the middle of the road. Inside the car were three wounded men and a wounded woman. All were rushed to nearby hospitals. Two men later died.

The investigation team recovered a total of 35 9mm and .38 bullet cases from the scene.

According to a witness, a 19-year-woman at a nearby karaoke bar, the victims' vehicle was travelling at high speed and was cut off by a black car carrying gunmen who opened fire at it.

After it came to halt, a bronze sport-utility-vehicle stopped next to the car and finished off the passengers at close-range. The SUV left but later made a U-turn and fired at the car again, the witness said. She and her friends got the injured out of the car and then called the police.

Prinya Permsuk, 19, who later arrived at the scene, told the police that he was the victims' friend. Mr Prinya said they had left his house in Bang Phli district about 30 minutes prior to the shooting.

Montri Wanpetch, 27, an emergency worker, said that he happened to be near the scene when the shooting took place and saw that four people in the car were shot.

The injured were identified as Sayan Kaewnuch, 27 who was shot in the left hand and left thigh, and Wannisa Premsri, 27, also shot in the left thigh. They were taken to Bang Phli Hospital and were reported to be in a stable condition.

Veerawat Kwanpetch, 24, suffered gunshot wounds to the body and Apisit Intachai, the driver, who was shot a couple times in his chest, both later died at the hospital.

There was also an unidentified 18-year-old woman in the car that was left unscathed. She has already been questioned by the police.

Police investigators suspect there was some illegal business at the heart of the killings.

^ I reckon she'll have mental scars over this though Exige. Maybe even worry about
getting whacked in the future. Lucky in some way, you're right. I'd be troubled enough ,that's for sure.

Bangkok Post updated the report later....added this......

Car chase, murder in Samut Prakan | Bangkok Post: news

Deputy national police chief Ek Angsananon said after inspecting the crime scene that Veerawat and Apisit had criminal records.

"Both men had criminal records for theft and were involved in the drug business. Veerawat had connections with a major drug dealer in Samut Prakan who was arrested several years ago," Pol Gen Ek said.

Investigators told him the two men liked to visit night entertainment venues and also had arguments with two car tyre businesses, he said.

The Samut Prakan police chief will be in charge of the case, he added.

There appeared to be at least three gunmen carrying out the attack and investigators were reviewing surveillance cameras installed along Theparak road to identify them, he said.

"I believe we'll be able to identify and arrest the attackers soon," the deputy police chief said.

    Bullet holes

The bullet holes in the hood appear to be from lead bullets; copper jacketed would leave smaller holes. I think, could be wrong.

5 men held for Nov 1 shooting

    The Nation November 6, 2012 1:00 am

Provincial Police Region 1 yesterday announced the arrest of five 'Talai' gangsters, who were involved in the November 1 shooting on Samut Prakan's Thepparak Road, which resulted in two men being killed and two other passengers of a Honda sedan being injured.

Jakkapat Khamsai, 29; Suthep Thongsuk, 27; Pongpol Kij-osod, 24; Tharatporn Wongphaed, 25; and Phurin Lhaokhajorn, 20; were nabbed at a rented house in Bang Bo district. Police also found three pistols in their possession. The suspects reportedly said they went on the shooting spree to take revenge for a previous row with the victims that resulted in one of their gang members being killed.

Samut Prakan police also seized 50 guns, 300 ammunition, 17,021 yaba tablets and 217.73 grams of "ice". They also arrested 544 drug-related suspects.
