PM guarantees safety of tourists to Thailand

    PM guarantees safety of tourists

(BangkokPost.com) - Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said the government guarantees safety of travellers coming to Thailand, following an alert issued by Australian government warning its citizens about terrorist attacks in the country.

"Each country can inform its citizens when they have information, but we confirm that we will provide full security for our tourists if they do not go into risky areas," Gen Surayud told reporters.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Thursday, telling its people that terrorists may be planning attacks "at any time, anywhere" in Thailand.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Sawanit Kongsiri said the ministry has already explained to the Australian government that the situation in the country is not as bad as the government had portrayed.

Mr Sawanit, however, said that it is the job of government of each country to warn its citizens about safety because the government will have to take responsibility of the people if something bad happen to them.

Yea RC, I was kinda wondering about all the deaths in Pattaya and around there and what the govt gonna do about them folks thats already dead in the last few weeks.
Do ya suppose they can bring em back??

If not then their guarantee is no better than any other guarantee that you get here.

If he can guarantee safety the questions need to be asked, how, for how long, why he didn't before, and what constitutes a 'risky area'. This is not an advertising campaign where conditions apply.

    Also, it
could be taken as a foolish challenge to the peacelovers and others out to discredit, undermine and befuddle the government, and might well go down as one of his major blunders.

If he does not define 'risky areas' then his guarantee is worth about the same as a dog turd

Risky areas would be places like bangkok and down south where bombs go off, also pattaya and jomtien where farangs are murdered on the beach, looks like chiang mai airport will need to expand

The new airport has been described as a fire trap, so thats another risky area. So any tourist who flies into Bangkok is not covered by this guarantee
