Woman kills herself over Botox

A 41-year-old beauty salon owner believed to have been disappointed with her anti-wrinkle Botox injections shot herself in Samut Prakan’s Bang Sao Thong district on Monday, Pol Lt Mokkara Srisakulpisut, duty officer at Bang Sao Thong police station, said.

The officer said he had been alerted that a woman had shot herself in a two-storey commercial building in tambon Bang Sao Thong in the evening.

Police went to the building which houses a beauty salon and found the body of Laxamee Ruangmankong in a bedroom behind the shop. The woman was lying on her bed with serious gunshot wounds to the temple and a .22 pistol in her hand, Pol Lt Mokkara said.

Laxamee’s 31-year-old niece, Suparat Poonsri, told police her aunt lived alone with three dogs. She often consumed traditional blood purifying liquid tonic and then would get drunk and cry and complain that the Botox injections she had six months ago had not turned out the way she expected, Ms Suparat said.

The Botox treatment was intended to smooth out facial wrinkles.
