    Immigration, non O visa

In need of some advice regards obtaining a new non-O visa….having been in Thailand for many years I thought I knew the ropes regards visas, etc....but those helpful people at the Bangkok immigration office have confused me this time.

I’ve previously had two ‘non-O’ visas issued by the UK (the office in Hull); our marriage (Thai wife) being in the UK over 5 years ago. However, being a complete idiot, I failed to notice my non-O Visa had expired and currently holding a 2 month extended stay visa from the local immigration office in Pattaya.

Today I took all the usual paperwork to the Bangkok (building B) immigration office in north Bangkok to apply for a new non-O visa. Only to be informed that our UK wedding certificate is not valid as proof of being married when applying for a change of visa – although this document would be fine if applying for a non-O visa outside of Thailand or when asking for an extension of stay to visit your Thai wife, as I did just a few weeks ago.

I assume I’ve now 3 choices, but would be thankful for any useful suggestions…assuming I’ve come to the right place!

    • Get my UK wedding certificate certified by the British embassy and then get my wife to obtain the relevant registration papers from her local amphur office – but has anyone done this at the embassy??

    • Sign that we’re married in Thailand at the local amphur office – but I guess they will then need proof from the British embassy they I’m able to marry so No.1 starts to look easier.

    • Fly back to UK and get a new non-O visa from Hull

Has anyone any experience in obtaining a document certifying a UK wedding certificate in Bangkok??

Surely you need to get it translated into Thai, don't you ?

Very difficult to read your post with your font colour choice.
As said above you will need it translated into Thai, I would be looking at number one and see if this is possible it should be a bit cheaper than going back to Hull.
