    Re-entry permits at the airport.

It seems that re-entry permits are once again being given at BKK airport. I can't spell Suvarnabhumi.

I am confused what it does exactly,

is that part of the procedure for the extension of stay using a non-O ? I might try that soon, but I still want to travel every 4 months instead of 3

When you leave Thailand your current Permission to Stay is cancelled.

If you get a Re-entry Permit then your Permission to Stay can be re-used if you return to Thailand before it expires

I still dont understand,I have a 1 year multiple visa.

Last time I went to Cambodia and they gave me 3 months and I am due to go again in Jan.

Does this Bangkok option mean I can get a stamp there rather than leave the country ?

    Nope.

With your visa there is little or no advantage to getting a re-entry permit.
Where it is most needed is when you are on a 365 day extension and you still have a long time left on your Permission to Stay

The 1 year extension on a non-O is fx. given for Retirement, over 50 years + prof of monthly pension or bank account of 800k or combination of both.
If you leave before the end of the 1y ext. your extion is cancelled, unless you have a re-entry permit.

Why are you getting year visa if you're only stayin roughly 4 weeks at a time. You just come as a visitor, and get your 30 day free tourist visa on entry. If you have to stay longer than that, you can do an exit and re-enter at a land border crossing and get another 14 days. You can do that twice in total.
If I'm talking shite someone please correct me.

If this is multiple entry visa then it's a multiple entry visa... I thought these were pretty rare; I've never seen one before, but they presumably exist; especially if you have one.

I get an annual non-b, and a couple of years ago asked for a multiple entry, they just said 'not possible' and gave me the standard one year... I don't know why, maybe they can't be bothered to go through the hassle of a 'non-standard' process or maybe they just don't like to give them out?

You are getting confused. The multiple entry visa he would have obtained in his home country. It gives you 90 day entries for up to one year. The other class is single entry, where you get 90 days but only once.

After your 90 days is up on your single entry visa, or after 1 year (4x 90 day entries) on a multiple entry visa, you have to apply for extension of stay at bangkok immigration. They will extend your visa for up to 1 year and you do not have to leave at all.

If you want to exit Thailand while on this extension of stay you have to get a re-entry permit or the extension will be canceled and you will have to go through the whole process again. There are two types of re-entry permit, single (1000 baht) and multiple (3800 baht). Both are available at immigration in Bangkok. Single allows you to exit and re-enter once while the multiple is unlimited times during the current one year extension.

I think "you have to apply for extention of stay at........" the nearest immigration office to where you live.

    Crap advice there

"Nationals from 56 countries can enter Thailand for 30 days without a visa, whereby you can get the visa stamped into your passport from an immigration officer at the airport. This is called "visa upon arrival"."
