What's the situation with back to back tourist visas at the moment?

I don't want to go back to England, even for 4 days to get a visas.
There seems to be, it would appear, people that go to Laos and get endless tourist visas, 60 days.
Is this still possible and can you get extensions at immigration ad infinitem?

    Any news guys?

As far as I know, a double 60 day tourist visa is still available in Vientiane.

    Free.

30 day extension on each 60 day visa.

    I think.

You can stay for 60 days.

Then extend for 30 days for the bones of 2000b at an immigration office.

The double entry will mean just doing a border run to activate the next 60 day + 30 day period.

That's 180 days made up of your double entry visa, an extension, a border run then another extension.

Then go get a new one. Believe you can repeat without too much worries at the moment.

    Anything could change tmro.

If married you can extend for 60 days.
This is how it works (for people who do not know)
Obtain double entry in Laos and enter Thailand.
60 days later get a 30 extension for 1,900 baht
30 days later do a visa run to activate your 2nd entry.
60 days later you apply for another 30 day extension or 60 days if married for 1,900 baht.
DO NOT apply for a 60 day extension on your 1st entry because you will invalidate your 2nd entry.
Basically you can get 180 days from a double entry or 210 days if married.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Before I was 50 and got a retirement visa, I used Key Visa in Pattaya. They had been recommended to me by a friend. The advice I got from them was always accurate and competent and they give free consultations at the Pattaya Expats Clubs meetings on Sunday mornings. If you have reached the point that you are even considering going all the way to England, suggest you give them a call first. And no, I do not know them personally or work for them.

Yeah, I done it a few months back at Samut Prakan.
The Lady was very helpful and said it was o.k to continue doing this. Actually she was the one who informed me that I could have a 60 day extension.
I supplied marriage cert, tabien baan and the wife's I.D (signed and dated) with all the other usual photocopies of my passport.

    ^ Just to add.
If you're married you can get a Non-o Multi in KL.
My mate got back 2 days ago and produced this paperwork at immigration.
    Marriage cert.
    Tabien Baan.
Bankbook showing just over 80k Thai baht.
Letter from wife asking for the visa on her husbands behalf.
    Wife's I.D
    Passport.

Said he paid 550 Ringit for the visa (5,500 baht) and had no hassles at all.

This thread is not about marriage visas.
Before I get married in Thailand I would apply for a visa on medical grounds to get my head examined.

I've been doing land crossings at Mae Sai every 15 days for over a year now, with one fly out / in the next day to KL. No problems so far, more detail in another thread I started. Not for everyone but it suits me as I don't mind the drive, the shopping and exploring the north.

60 day extension would only be good on your second entry and final extention.

If you do it after the first, you'll miss your 'enter by' date (3 months after date of Visa issued), your second entry has to be before that date.

Yes indeed you can and they're free at present.

If you're in BKK - this is a cheap schedule to get 6 months.

1: Overnight train from hua lumpong to nong khai - 600bt
    2: shared taxi to border - 30bt
    3: Laos Visa - 1200bt
4: Taxi to embassy (Thai) to drop passport - 100bt

then you have overnight costs (250-500bt) and the costs in reverse (above) as you go back to thailand.

You will return with a double entry (so long as you ask for one)

1st leg = 2 months in Thailand + 1 month (extend just before 2 months r up a t immigration - now at Suwwanapooom) Then a day before visa expires (i.e 2 months & 29 days) simply take a bus to arranyaprathet and pop in and out and use your second entry for another 2 months - once again, a day before the 2 months expires back to immigration for another months extension.

There you have it - the 6 month visa.

    Repeat.

30 day extension on each 60 day visa.

    I think.
Having that very discusion with a Norwegian last night, he was emphatic that he had to pay at Vientiane last month.

There was a 3 week window before they re-instated free visa (as it had run out)

    Back in place now.

    Tip of the day.

If going to Vientiane pay for your visa in U.S Dollars at the border instead of Baht.
By doing this you will save about 400/500 baht (ish) on the conversion.
I always get 50 dollars at Swampy, but if going by bus there's an exchange booth on your the left hand side just before the visa counter at the border in Nong Khai.

I believe the following to be true:

The free visa begins again today (11th May) after 6 weeks or so of having to pay.

As with the last year long period, only single entry Tourist visas are officially free, but as was the case before, it is expected that they will give the double entries for free as well.

Presumably this is to cut down the amount of leechers showing up there every day - 6 month periods instead of 3.

I certainly got one a while back. I think I did a thread on it. What's happened in the mean time, I know not.

I know a couple of people that are staying perennially on tourist visas that applied for double entries at Vientiane and were only given a single 'single entry'.
