| Settlement Visa - required funds to show self-sufficencyy What are the required amounts that A) the sponser ( British partner me!) and (b) the applicant (Chinese fiance of mad_dog) need to show in our respective bank accounts? Also I am currently unemployed (as I am moving back to the U.K) will stating this on the visa application bugger up my chances?

Basically suitable accomodation and proving you have sufficient funds to support yourself and your misses are the main things they are looking for, and as i said if you can't fill the criteria just be creative.

| Only bank account i showed was a joint one with the misses with 200,000 baht in. I'm presuming you have suitable accomodation in the UK, so just get a mate with a business in the UK to type you up a job offer saying you will be earning 35k a year and job done. Settlement visa lasts 27 months and your misses just has to do the life in the UK test in that time then after 2 years you apply for 'indefinate leave to remain'. |

there is no set requirement as said, all you need to do is satisfy them she will not need to have recourse to public funds, and that also includes you | |

| Its also a requirement to establish the relationship is genuine, so if you're married and been living together in LOS for quite a while that should be a cinch. I think thats the most important thing, as even though your wife won't have recourse to public funds in the UK, you will, and that should be enough. Its about proving everything so there are no doubts in the ECO's mind, same with accommodation in the UK, this place has all the answers: Thailand-UK - Home Page หน้าแรก |

| I think you just have to show you have more money than you would if you were on benefits. For example a job paying more than a couple of hundred pounds a week or a bank account with about 10 grand in. There's a couple of other threads on here about it, do a search. Your fiance doesn't have to show any money, but I'm sure it won't do any harm if she does. Because you are her sponsor you can't use anyone else's money for proof of money, but you can use parent's or friends' houses for proof of accomodation if you don't have any sorted yet. |

| You certainly don't have to have anything like 10k in the bank! As for a couple of hundred pounds a week, if you take into account housing benefits and working family tax credits, benefits can easily exceed that amount, but I'm no expert on visas although my wife and son now have ILR, which is why I suggested somewhere to go to get definitive advice. |

| ^should be OK then... what about accomodation? Obviously if you put down a rental then you've got to show a bit more money to pay the rent. Doesn't matter where you live when you get here, if you can show you've got someone who will house you for free then it wil help. |

| Well you will clearly need more than 200 pounds a month to live on and then how long will the savings last? These things will be considered by the ECO. I don't want to get into a slanging match to detract from the the advice you are seeking, so I will leave it there. Good luck! |
