| Small Member | Depends if she is deemed to need an interview, by the little hitlers in the embassy. Waiting times can vary, but i guess the average is about six weeks. I suppose if youve been married quite some time, then it could be much quicker. Maybe done and dusted in a week.

I had to submit e mails, bank drafts, loads of photos, phone records, even photos of me in her village with the village name in the background. They will want to see that you have suitable accommodation in the UK and they will require proof that you have enough income to support yourselves. If your struggling to provide these it might be easier to get the 6 month visa then apply for the 2 year when you have all your documentation together. As someone else said she cant work legally on a 6 month visa. She can work with a 2 year settlement visa no problem.

Proof of money and accommodation are the main two. Stick some photos of wedding etc... just in case. I went to England with my son first and they sorted it in a week. | |

| If you follow the link to T-UK posted above, on the visa sub-forum there are a load of sticky's that tell you in detail how to put a folder together. Worked for me. When applying for a NiNo for the wife, its best to have some evidence that she has been looking for work, responses to job applications, rejection letters, that sort of thing. Things really have tightened up. Edit: I should point out that by law, your missus is entitled to a NiNo, but somehow that message hasn't filtered down to the DWP clerks! |
