l take it this is to the border crossing at Phroom ? Where is the turn off for that from the highway, is it before or after you go up the mountain for about 3 kms ? l always end up going Bahn Laem / Duang check point. l would like to go to Phroom, because it should be closer. Many of the minivans also use Duang. Why don't they also use Phroom ? Where the hell is the Phroom turn off ? There are no signs on the highway, so what do we look for ?

and yes...it is the crossing to pailin at the top of the hill the road swings a wide left hander and on the right is a new road with a big police box and nice gardens...that is NOT the turnoff...keeping going a click or so and take the next on your right... it's unmarked and not signposted in any way...road is quite narrow but only a short run to the border

I am trying to locate a thread from dirtydog that I found through google a few days ago. My CAT ISP threw up. Now I can't locate it via search. The thread I think was from 2006 and had photos of the Baan Laem/Duang border crossing. Unfortunaely, I will be staying two nights in Duang. One to go to Phnom Penh and one to return to Pattaya next week. Any guest house or family stay in Duang? Thanks in advance guys.

On advice from Friends, I have just done my visa-run at Chong Chom / Osmach. I could not believe how easy it was. The whole thing took 10 minutes! Cambodian Visa 1000B + 300B to exit on the same day. I got the Yellow Mukdahan bus which took me to Prasat. I stayed the night in Prasat at Resort called Leelawadee gardens, and on advice from the owner got a mini bus to the border for only 40B. I was back in Prasat with in the hour, and straight back on the bus. The only down side was it's a 7hr plus journey, though I never got the feeling I was being herded like cattle. The plus side was I had a great night out in Prasat. There are a couple of Farang Bars in town and of course the Isaan Karaokes, plus the Leelawadee has wifi and swimming pool, and is only 300B for a fan.

The visa should be $20, which is 800THB max. The land crossing at Poi Pet now accepts the Cambodian E-Visa for entry and exit so you can get your visa online ($25 for tourist visa) and cut out the scammers completely. Other entry and exit points where E-Visas are accepted are on the website.

This crossing is very quiet. I use it every time. They have rebuilt the shack on the Cambodian side. Go Sukhamvit to Chanterburi or as far as you can. Turn left at end of sukhumvit, ie follow signs for Cambodian border market. About 40 klick up that road you get another sign for Cambodian market that directs you to the right. The turning off that road is about 10 to 15 klick up that road to the right. No sign posts. p.s. Don,t buy fags there, they are very fake!!!!!!
