Applying for B Type visa

First of all hi. After a recommendation from a colleague i joined a few minutes ago.

I am after some advice on applying for a B type visa as I am getting conflicting information.

I am employed as a consultant for an Engineering firm here in Thailand. They have provided me with all the documentation that is listed as required on the Immigration website. I am under the impression that now I have all the paper work, I can go to the Thai immigration office here and apply for a B type, then leave the country for my stamp. I am told from various people that this is not the case, and infact i have to leave the country to obtain the B type. I assumed that this option was simply the easiest way of obtaining a visa as going through local immigration is a little more strict.

My multi non O has already expired, and i am presently on my second 30 stamp. Can someone please confirm that i can apply locally, assuming I have the correct paper work.

Many Thanks

PS. Down with the NWO!

I believe you would need to leave the country to get a visa that you could convert to a non b, at present you don't have any sort of visa, you could also apply for the b whilst outside Thailand to save messing around changing visas in Bangkok.

Pity your Non O has expired as some offices will allow a work permit with a Non O

It's possible to go get a tourist visa then come back and convert it. as far as I'm aware you need 30 days valid on your visa in order to convert to a non B in Bangkok.

I was wondering about that. I am visiting friends in Chaing Mai this October, so I may just opt for a tourist to put me over until October then go to Myanmar for the B.

Yes you can get a B visa with a non-im 'O'
Yes you can get a Work Permit on a Non Im 'o'

You have to get the non Im 'B' outside thailand.

The easiest place is perth in australia.

The Closest could be Vientianne or KL.

Once you have a non 'o' or 'b' if your company pays vat and you have 7.3 million other docs you can get an extion to stay every 90 days... for as long as you and you company pay tax and have 7.29999999 million documnets in duplicateevery 90 days.

Or you could just cross the border every 90 days like I do requiring no documents except your b visa.

I have never heard of anyone going to Myanmar for a B visa... but i suppose if you fly in to rangoon and there is a thai embassy it would work out .

Is that a tourist visa or a non-im A ?

Ok i bow to your superior knowledge.

I thought it was only Non-Im O

Can they only do it in Bangkok ?

One of my friends just started her first 'proper' job at one of the schools in Chang Klan Road and has a 2 month visa. i will let her know she may be able to go to BKK to get her b visa instead of Lao.

Thanks

Mark

The Myanmar Thai Embassy is presently at
Myanmar, Yangon
Royal Thai Embassy
45, Pyay Road, Yangon
Tel: +951 35 670, 33 082, 21 567
Fax: +951 22 784

but it might very well be moved to the new capital of Naypyidaw, when the present embassy will either close or become a consulate, so check before you go.

FYI - 'Consultant' is no longer recognised as a valid occupation for foreigners so I'd advise changing your job title to make things go smoother.

You can convert a tourist to a non B at Soi Suan Phlu but you need all the docs. A list of required docs can be obtained from the same place.

Go to Singapore, Royal Thai Embassy
370 Orchard Road, Singapore

Requirements: NON-IMMIGRANT 'B' VISA:

1. Thai Company sponsorship (2 million baht registered capital per foreigner)
2. Employment of 4 Thai employees per foreigner
3. VAT Certificate
4. Withholding Tax
5. Social Fund Withholding

Take your passport, 2 passport size photographs of yourself. You will also need a letter from a company or business in Thailand that states that they want you to work there.

Try and take as much document from the company with you all signed and with company stamp
